The mother locked the children at home for 9 days. Mother left two children to die: details of the Kyiv tragedy

The mother states that she did not know that the children could die. Meanwhile, her daughter spent three days in the apartment with her dead brother.

The news about a 20-year-old mother who left her two children alone in an apartment for 9 days and went to her lover shook up society. When the girl returned, her one-year-old son died of hunger. At the moment, doctors are fighting for the life of a two-year-old girl.

When the investigators asked why the mother left two practically infant children alone in a locked apartment, the woman replied that she “didn’t know that children could die” and went “for a walk” for 9 days. We tried to collect all the details of this incident.

The same Kiev apartment where the death occurred

The children only had a few candies to eat.

The grief-stricken mother of Vladislav Podchapko moved from Nikolaev to Kyiv about a year ago. “I rented an apartment in the city center and even had a 6th iPhone! From her first husband she has 2 children – a boy, Daniil, and a girl, Anya,” says Children’s Ombudsman Nikolai Kuleba. “From birth, the woman said that she didn’t love them and even wanted to take them to a shelter. But the children still lived with Vlada, because the father showed aggression. “Mom” forbade him to communicate with him. The father has not heard anything about the children since September.”

The last time a doctor was called to see the children was back in February; they had not gone to kindergarten since August. The teachers did not see the children for 4 months and did not react to this at all, the Ombudsman points out.

And last winter, Vlada had a new love, and at the end of October - a new child. Third in a row. Who, by the way, has been living in his dad’s apartment since birth. The child's great-grandmother is caring for the baby.

“9 days ago Vlada went for a walk and locked her older children in the apartment. The only food they had was a few candies. All these 9 days my mother did not come home. The children tried to get out of the apartment, looking for loopholes through which they could call for help. They even tore out the linoleum from the front doors!” Kuleba gives horrific details.

Neighbors heard crying

In addition to the act of the unfortunate mother, the indignation is caused by the fact that everyone around knew that the children were alone in the apartment, but no one tried to break down the door and save them.

So, according to Kuleba, neighbors heard children crying every morning and every evening. They say that they even called the police, but no one answered the door and the police left. They did not try to break into the apartment.

“Their grandmother (Vlada’s mother) also knew that the children were locked in the apartment. She even brought them food, but was unable to enter the apartment. I returned home,” says the Ombudsman.

But the most terrible thing in the whole story is not even that. The boy Daniel died of hunger on December 3rd. Anya was locked in the apartment with her dead brother until December 6th, that is, three whole days.

The children’s “mother” called an ambulance, and on the 9th day of the partying she finally remembered them and returned home. By the time she arrived, the girl’s internal organs had already begun to fail.

Virtual love

It is noteworthy that the page of the grief-mother on the social network VKontakte is replete with joyful photographs with children and reposts of posts from various groups about happy motherhood. And even instead of her place of work, she says “happy mother.”

“Mom’s joy, I love you very much,” Vladislava Podchapko signed a photo with her daughter, published in October of this year.

Another photo with a caption declaring her love for the kids shows both of her children, a boy and a girl.

In another photo, the woman’s son poses for the camera in large black glasses - the mother signed the photo “Batman”, adding a lot of laughing emoticons to the post. The boy is no longer alive.

Also on her page there is a photo with Anton Voronin, with whom she was when her children were dying of hunger. “My man is always right, always the best and always a winner. Of course, this is my man,” she signed joint photos. By the way, there are no pictures of them together on Voronin’s page.

Voronin has already commented on the boy’s starvation death. He asked not to judge his mother. “Please do not judge without knowing the situation. All comments are after the investigation,” Anton Voronin wrote on his VKontakte page.

What will happen to the grieving mother and her surviving children next?

The 2-year-old girl, whom Vlada abandoned for 9 days in a locked apartment with her one-year-old younger brother, has already started taking nutrient solutions. Now the girl is in Children's Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Kyiv.

“Her condition has really improved a little, she is receiving intensive therapy, she is being given intravenous solutions, and they have started feeding her on a trial basis. There are secondary lesions of internal organs, but this is a natural process, because children lose weight and water very quickly. In a particular case, we will consider that the child was lucky,” said Albina Anisimova, deputy chief physician of the children’s clinical hospital No. 1 in Kyiv.

Anya's health is improving every day.

“Anya’s condition is gradually improving. They already wanted to transfer the girl to a regular ward, but decided to leave her in the intensive care ward in order to limit her contact with others. After all, for Anya, even the slightest attention from strangers is a big stress. By the way, the biological father and grandmother came to visit the daughter,” said Nikolai Kuleba, the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights of Ukraine.

Nevertheless, social workers will most likely take away the surviving girl from Vlada Podchapko, who left her children to die of hunger. Her third child, the youngest, we recall, lives with her dad.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the grieving mother and her new partner under Article 135 “Leaving in danger.” For this, the unfortunate mother faces imprisonment for up to 8 years.

Friend's testimony

Yesterday, December 8, it became known that the court arrested Vlada Podchapko for two months, who locked two young children in an apartment for 9 days, which is why one of them died.

New details began to emerge in the case of the grief-stricken mother.

Today Ombudsman Nikolai Kuleba on his page in

It is difficult for the residents of Kyiv and Ukraine in general to be shocked by anything after the bloody events of the last three years. Nevertheless, the story that happened in the Ukrainian capital in early December made us shudder.

There is no politics, “separatism”, “Russian aggression” or “visa-free regime” in it. We are talking about cruelty, the victims of which were young children.

He spoke about the terrible incident on his Facebook page. Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Children's Rights Nikolai Kuleba.

“Death by starvation IN THE CENTER OF Kyiv,” Kuleba wrote. - A 20-year-old mother, who locked two small children (a boy, 1 year and 11 months old; a girl, 2 years and 10 months old) in an apartment for 9 days, is now sitting in the Prosecutor’s Office (also in a good mood!!!) and says: “I didn’t know that children could die.”

According to Kuleba, a woman named Vlada I moved to Kyiv from Nikolaev about a year ago. “I rented an apartment in the city center and even had a 6th iPhone!” the commissioner clarifies.

“The children tried to get out of the apartment”

Son Daniel and daughter Anya were born by a woman from her first husband. As Kuleba writes, “from birth the woman said that she did not love them, and even wanted to take them to a shelter.” At the same time, the woman did not allow her own father near the children, because he allegedly “showed aggression.”

“The last time a doctor was called to see the kids was back in February; they haven’t gone to kindergarten since August. (The teachers did not see the children for 4 months and did not react to this at all!!!),” writes the Commissioner for Children’s Rights.

According to Kuleba, last winter Vlada found a new love, and in October 2016 she gave birth again. The third child lived in his father's apartment.

9 days ago Vlada “went for a walk” and locked her older children in the apartment. The only food they had was a few candies. During all these days she did not appear at home even once.

“The children tried to get out of the apartment, looking for loopholes through which they could call for help. They even tore out the linoleum from the front door!” writes the Commissioner for Human Rights.

“Anya was locked up with her dead brother until December 6th”

Neighbors admit they heard a child crying. Once they even called the police, but the law enforcement officers, according to the stories of local residents, stood at the door of the apartment and did not hear an answer, and left. The children’s grandmother, Vlada’s mother, also came. But the woman did not have the keys, and after waiting at the door, she also left.

As a result, after nine days of absence, the mother finally came and, according to her, immediately called an ambulance. This could no longer help little Dana. Daniil died of hunger on December 3. Anya was locked up with her dead brother until December 6th. “Now the girl is in serious condition in intensive care... at this hour it is known that her organs have already begun to fail,” Nikolai Kuleba said.

Later, the commissioner wrote that the doctors managed to help the girl, and Anya’s condition was gradually improving.

“I didn’t do anything, just gave birth to children”

Kyiv police confirm the death of a child from starvation. Kyiv police speaker Oksana Blishchik in an interview with Ukrainian Vesti, she said that the woman’s name is Vladislava Trokhimchuk. It has not yet been possible to determine the lady’s sources of income; according to the police, “she did nothing but give birth to children.”

For all nine days, while the son and daughter were dying, locked in the apartment, their mother was with her partner.

The police still have a lot to figure out in this story. It is known that the children’s father sent an SMS to his wife on December 3: “How are the children?” Vladislava replied: “It’s okay, buy Dana a sled for her birthday.” As the examination established, Danya had already died by this time.

Relations in this family were truly high. Vladislava justifies herself by saying that she left the children in the care of her grandmother, who, in turn, explains that she brought food, but could not open the door. The new partner and father of the third child, by the way, is the godfather of one of the older children. This man, if you can call him that, also did not raise a question about the situation in which two children under three years old were left without a mother for more than a week.

“I didn’t know he would die”

The neighbors, when it became known that the boy had died from hunger, took up a perimeter defense. In conversations with journalists, they say that they did not see or hear anything, and complain about the “out-of-towners” who have arrived in large numbers. It remains to be seen whether the police were actually called, and if so, why the patrol did not fully clarify the situation.

Communication with Vladislava made a painful impression on the investigators. “I didn’t know that he would die. I left cookies and corn sticks for the children,” the mother said. In addition, during interrogation, the woman stated that when leaving, she locked the children in the room and propped the door so that the children could not get out. Vladislava cannot explain to the investigators why she did this.

At the moment, Vladislava Trokhimchuk is charged with Part 3 of Article 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Leaving in danger, resulting in death and other grave consequences.” The sanction for this crime is from 3 to 8 years in prison.

In addition, the question is raised about depriving a woman of parental rights in relation to her two remaining children. At the same time, relatives are categorically against placing children in special institutions until all investigations and examinations are completed. The final decision has not yet been made.

Their grandmother knew that the children were locked in the apartment

The Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Children's Rights Nikolai Kuleba reported details of the incident with two young children, whom their mother named Vlada locked alone in the apartment for nine days

In particular, Kuleba on his page in Facebook reported that the boy who died due to his mother’s irresponsibility was one year and 11 months old, and the girl, who is in serious condition in intensive care, was two years and ten months old.

According to Kuleba, the children’s mother moved from Nikolaev to Kyiv about a year ago.

"I rented an apartment in the city center and even had a 6th iPhone!", notes the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights.

Her children, a boy Daniel and a girl Anya, are from her first husband. According to Kuleba, the woman said that she did not love them and even wanted to take them to a shelter.

The children's father had not heard anything from them since September; his ex-wife forbade him to communicate with them because he was “showing aggression.”

The last time a doctor was called to see the children was in February, and they had not gone to kindergarten since August.

"Last winter, Vlada had a new love, and at the end of October, a new child. Who, by the way, has been living in his dad’s apartment since birth. The child's great-grandmother takes care of the baby", Kuleba noted.

When she “went for a walk”, hiding the older children, she left them only a few sweets from food.

"The children tried to get out of the apartment, looking for loopholes through which they could call for help. They even tore out the linoleum from the front doors!", Kuleba wrote.

He also said that neighbors They heard children crying every morning and every evening, and there is information that they called the police, but when no one answered the door in response to a request to open the door, the police left.

  • Update:

Their grandmother, Vlada’s mother, also knew that the children were locked in the apartment.

"She even brought them food, but was unable to enter the apartment. Returned home..", Kuleba said.

According to the Commissioner for Children's Rights, Daniil died on December 3, and Anya was locked up with her dead brother for another three days - until December 6, when the girl's organs had already begun to fail. According to the Commissioner for Children's Rights, the girl's condition is now gradually improving.

In Kyiv 20-year-old Vladislava Slyusarenko left her children unattended for nine days - 12 month old Daniel And Annu, 2 years old and 10 months. She locked the kids in the room. She propped the door with a chair. Food included several sweets, a packet of cookies and corn sticks. Returned on December 6th. I found a dead son and an emaciated daughter. The girl was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Vladislav Slyusarenko comes from the village of Ivanovka, Pervomaisky district in the Nikolaev region. She moved to Kyiv last year. I rented a one-room apartment on the street. Marichanskaya, 6 in Goloseevsky district of the capital. A month ago I gave birth to my third child. His father is looking after him. They live in the capital's Bereznyaki area. Vladislava spent those days with them. She says that her ex-mother-in-law should have looked after the elders.

— Vlada separated from her first husband a year ago. I think his name is Alexey. He visited the children, but always behaved aggressively. Vlad kept Danka and Anya away from him. That's why I moved to Kyiv. “I met a new guy here,” says 20-year-old Elena Pinus, friend of Vladislava.

“She behaved adequately with children,” continues Elena Pinus. - Always fed, clean. I bought them new things and toys. True, she never officially worked anywhere. I have no idea where I got the money.

— The woman was not in poverty. I rented an apartment and even had an iPhone 6 (the average cost of a phone is 12 thousand UAH - GPU). According to friends, she said from the birth of her children that she did not love them. I even wanted to give it to a shelter. But she didn’t want to leave it to her biological father. They were afraid of him. He hasn’t seen his children for over a year, says the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights 44-year-old Nikolai Kuleba.

“Their grandmother knew that the children were locked in the apartment. She even brought them food. But she couldn’t get into the room. Every morning and evening, neighbors heard the babies crying. They say they called the police. However, no one opened the door for them, so they left. The children tried to get out of the room on their own. A piece of linoleum was torn out from the entrance doors.

We spoke with Vlada's brother. He is in shock. Can't believe what happened. He said that his sister constantly asked relatives and friends for money for Anya’s treatment. They say the girl has a brain tumor. Doctors denied this,” Kuleba continues.

Vladislava Slyusarenko gave birth to three children from different men.

Vladislava Slyusarenko’s apartment is on the second floor. Doors are closed on December 7th in the afternoon. There is a note on the handle stating that this is a crime scene. A woman with a child in her arms comes down from the third floor. She says she didn’t hear children’s cries.

— There are a lot of kids in every house. And most people like to yell and jump around. Therefore, I did not pay attention to the noise and crying. Of course, if I knew that the children were left alone, I would have immediately gone to them,” says Victoria, 35 years old. Doesn't give his last name. “I don’t know anything about their family.” In our building, many people rent.

Vladislava is the youngest of four children in the family. Has two older sisters and a brother. Father died a long time ago. They were raised by their mother Lyudmila.

- Luda raised them herself. I spent all my time running around to earn a penny. “I had no other choice,” says a worker at the Romanovo-Balkovsky village council, which includes Ivanovka. Doesn't seem like it. - In Moscow now. Comes once every three months. Visits children. The older ones left long ago and live in Kyiv and Chernigov. Vladislava stayed here while she went to school. She didn’t drink, didn’t smoke, didn’t hang around in groups. Normal girl. After the ninth grade, I dropped out of school and didn’t go anywhere. At the age of 16 she became pregnant and got married. Once I saw how I came to the village with my husband and child. The baby is well-groomed.

“I was an ordinary child from a simple family,” says 59-year-old Lyudmila Lobanova, head teacher of the school where Vladislava studied. - My academic performance was below average. But I didn’t skip school. She was always playful and expressive. She could easily make friends with someone and instantly create a conflict out of the blue. I consider what happened to her children to be negligence. She had no malicious intent.

On her page on the social network VKontakte, Vladislava Podchapko writes about love for her children. In the column, the place of work indicated: “Modern mother.” Has 254 photos with Daniil and Anya. Under them are the signatures: “Mom’s joy”, “Beauty”, “My love”. Another part of the messages is dedicated to the common-law husband: “My man is always right, always the best and always the winner. Of course, this is my man.”

Vladislava was taken into custody without the right to bail. During interrogation, the woman stated that she did not expect the children to die. She could be jailed for eight years. Relatively 2 year old Anna the woman was deprived of parental rights.

“She made sure the kids died on purpose.” I locked them in an apartment without food or water. Children will not survive nine days in such conditions,” says Nikolai Kuleba.

Exhausted Anna lies in the intensive care unit of Children's Clinical Hospital No. 1. Her internal organs began to fail due to dehydration. The girl is given solutions to support her body. Gradually her condition is improving.

Daniel will be buried this weekend.

It was necessary to assemble a special commission

— Police have the right to open the doors and enter someone else’s premises if they hear cries for help, there is a strong smell of smoke or gas, or there is a burst pipe. To do this, you need to assemble a special commission consisting of a housing department employee, neighbors, witnesses, and a local police officer. The doors must be opened by a locksmith. All this is documented in the protocol,” says Oksana Blishchik from the Kyiv police. — Another option is entry by court order. It is used during searches or arrests in criminal cases. But this requires a lot of time and arguments for the judge.

A woman who left her small children locked in an apartment for 9 days never loved them and often said that she would like to take them to a shelter. This was reported by Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Children's Rights Nikolai Kuleba.

""Mom" Vlada moved from Nikolaev to Kyiv about a year ago. She rented an apartment in the city center and even had a 6th iPhone! From her first husband she has two children - a boy Daniil (1 year and 11 months) and a girl Anya (2 years and 10 months). From birth, the woman said that she did not love them, and even wanted to take them to a shelter. But the children still lived with Vlada, because the father showed aggression. “Mom” forbade communicating with him. Since September, the father has said nothing about the children I didn’t hear,” he said.

According to Kuleba, last winter Vlada had a new love, and at the end of October a new child, who has been living in his father’s apartment since birth. The child's great-grandmother is caring for the baby.

It was the need to be with this child that Vlada explained the fact that she was absent from her home for 9 days, where her older children were left without food or care. Moreover, before leaving the apartment, the woman locked the children in the room and propped the door so that the children could not get out.

“9 days ago Vlada went for a walk and locked her older children in the apartment. The only food they had was a few candies. All these 9 days my mother did not come home. The children tried to get out of the apartment, looking for loopholes through which they could call for help. They even tore out the linoleum from the front door!” - Kuleba said.

It is noteworthy that neighbors heard children crying. According to them, they even called the police, but the security forces stood near the door, and when no one opened for them, they turned around and left. The children’s grandmother (Vlada’s mother), who knew that they were alone in the apartment, came to them and even brought food, but could not get into the apartment and also left.

“Daniil died of hunger on December 3rd. Anya was locked up with her dead brother until December 6th. Now the girl is in serious condition in intensive care,” noted the Commissioner for Children’s Rights, adding that “Vlada is now sitting in the Prosecutor’s Office (also in a good mood!!!) and says: “I didn’t know that children could die.” .

At the moment, Anya is in Children's Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Kyiv. According to the deputy chief physician of the clinic, Albina Anisimova, the girl has already started taking nutrient solutions.

“Her condition has really improved a little, she is receiving intensive therapy, she is being given intravenous solutions, and they have started feeding her on a trial basis. There are secondary lesions of internal organs, but this is a natural process, because children lose weight and water very quickly. In a particular case, we will consider that the child was lucky,” she noted.

Based on the fact of bringing a child to death, criminal proceedings were initiated against the grief-stricken mother under Part 3 of Article 135 (leaving in danger). The woman faces imprisonment for up to 8 years.
