Work for women in Europe. Work in Europe

More than once I have come across statements that no one is waiting for Russians abroad, with a Russian education it is also not destiny to find a job, if you leave, it will be through study, marriage, or something else, and almost working as a dishwasher.

So I decided to talk about our personal experience.

Some time ago, my husband and I set a goal for ourselves - to find a job in Europe in our specialty and go to work and live. In short, they found and left. To do this, it was necessary to send about 3,000 responses to vacancies between two people and go through about fifty interviews (also between two people) over the course of a year.

Let me make a reservation right away: I do not claim to be the ultimate truth. Everyone has different starting conditions, different goals and “baggage”. Everything described below is purely personal experience, our own “bumps” and “rake”. First of all, for your own memory (and for the future). And if someone who also decides to take a similar step will find my story useful and will allow them to optimize the process of finding an employer abroad of the Russian Federation, then this is only welcome!

Some background information:
- as already written above,for the period from August 2012 to May 2013 we for two My husband and I sent about 3,000 job responses
- the geography of the search initially included the whole of Europe and quite a bit of Canada and the USA (at that time we were not at all capricious in this regard, so we searched everywhere; the obligatory condition was that the work more or less corresponded to the level of competence, and the employer was ready to sponsor the receipt of a job visas)
- found on LinkedIn.

Now, analyzing this search process, I quite clearly understand why it took so long, so much, etc.
This is what I will try to focus on.

Where and how to look

When this question confronted us in full force, it seemed the most logical thing to do - on the Internet! Where else? (Perhaps not the most effective approach, but there is a separate post on this topic).

At first, we took the extensive path, casting the “net” as wide as possible - we tried to cover as many sites as possible containing vacancies (all kinds of londonjobs.co.uk, xpatjobs.com, jobs.cz, stepstone.com and many more analogues of hh.ru, offering mandatory registration and filling out a lengthy profile). Add to this the corporate websites of companies that interest us, various options for naming suitable positions...

In general, after about a week it became clear that it was physically impossible to track vacancies on all these sources. In addition, it was obvious that most sites duplicate each other, and almost all the most interesting things are on LinkedIn. This is where we focused our main attention, adding periodically Monster .
The latter is terribly inconvenient because you have to go to a separate website for each country, and you cannot search, for example, for “e-commerce project manager” in England, Germany and Ireland at once. At the same time, as it turned out in the process, there are unique vacancies that are not found anywhere else. And there is a reason for this.

Not everyone knows that Europe is trying in every possible way to protect its own working-age population from the massive influx of “newcomers.” Therefore companies obliged When hiring, consider local candidates first. To do this, they post vacancies on local labor exchanges, similar sites to hh.ru, etc.
If a company wants to hire a foreigner, it must prove that it has searched for a long time and in vain for such a valuable specialist locally, but could not find him. In this case, she may receive the green light to attract a foreigner (from outside the EU).
There are, of course, transnational giants that are committed to attracting expats. They have quotas, the process is accelerated to the maximum. But for ordinary SME players, the rules are strict. Therefore, in particular, unique vacancies pop up on national “monsters” - companies are obliged to advertise them there for a certain time, so that later there will be a basis for attracting a foreign specialist with the required competence. The upside is that these jobs sometimes appear on Monster earlier than on LinkedIn due to the same strict requirements.

Conclusion: stay focused!It is impossible to embrace the immensity. There are an incredible number of sites publishing vacancies online. You need to identify those 1-2-3 that are most suitable for your specific purposes, and closely monitor what is published on them.
For example, it seems to me that LinkedIn + the largest national resource that publishes vacancies (such a leader is usually easy to identify) is a good combination.

In general, this topic of finding a job (especially the first one) abroad is extensive and exciting. So I’m gradually describing it from different angles, including our tips & tricks, which we didn’t come to right away (oh, how many good vacancies flew by and how much effort was spent on completely hopeless cases).

    Working in Europe for an immigrant from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus or another country is both a goal and a means. Someone initially goes abroad to get a warm job and earn the kind of money that one could only dream of at home. For some, a high salary is just a pleasant bonus, and most importantly, it is an opportunity to reach career heights and realize professional fulfillment. Still others are seduced by the idea itself, and in order to live with dignity, you need to find a job with an appropriate income.

    There are many explanations why foreigners are interested in working in the European Union.

    There are workers who come for seasonal work, illegal labor migrants, and students who work part-time during the holidays. And everyone is asking just one question: in which country is the job situation better? We present the rating of in-demand specialties in 2019 and a brief overview of the situation on the labor market of countries that are members of the European Union.

    Working in your specialty in Europe means a stable and sufficient income.
    However, to find a prestigious job, you need to have truly valuable business qualities, skills and knowledge in your field.

    In almost every country the following are highly valued:

    • IT specialists;
    • engineers;
    • technologists;
    • teachers;
    • economists;
    • doctors;
    • analysts;
    • builders;
    • trade workers.

    Depending on the specifics of the country, workers in the oil and gas industry, insurers and lawyers are also in demand.

    In any case, it is not enough for each applicant to have a higher education diploma. Europe has very strict legislation regulating the employment sector. And employers will have priority over residents of the country, the EU, and only then other migrants.

    Therefore, in addition to a document indicating general knowledge in the required field, knowledge of several foreign languages, work experience, and a diploma of a second higher education will be a significant addition.

    Average salaries of specialists in popular specialties

    food market in Europe

    There is practically no upper limit for salaries in these specialties, but the minimum slightly exceeds 1000–1500 euros per month. But it is worth noting the irregular working hours and arbitrary employment schedules of representatives of this profession.

    Teachers, pedagogues and scientific specialists

    There is always a shortage of good specialists in the field of pedagogy. This is not due to a lack of personnel as such, but to constant career growth. School teachers, having gained some experience, try to transfer to better-paid jobs in colleges and universities. In addition, in Europe the institute of private education and individual training is very developed: courses, tutors, home schooling. On average, jobs in the EU for teachers are not very well paid. , Ireland, Denmark, Belgium and offer a monthly salary for teachers with experience from 2.5 to 3.5 thousand euros.

    Employees receive these amounts for part-time work. The working hours are selected according to the capabilities and wishes of the candidate. Teachers in Luxembourg receive the most - 5.5 thousand euros.

    Salary comparison table for European countries

    This is explained by the highly developed system of private clinics and health insurance. For example, a pharmacist can receive from 4 to 7 thousand euros per month. Nurse from 3.6 to 5.5 thousand euros. And chief physicians and doctors of narrow specializations receive even larger sums, depending on the clinic, country and region. In Russia, the level of salaries for medical workers is several times lower, since medicine is financed from the country’s budget.

    Builders

    We are talking about skilled workers with relevant higher education diplomas. Good prospects, stable employment levels - all this is guaranteed thanks to the active pace of construction of residential buildings and commercial buildings. Architects and designers of industrial structures also fall into this category. On average in Europe, the price range is small - 2-3 thousand euros. This is the procedure for remuneration in Finland, Denmark offers about 2.5 thousand euros monthly, Sweden - 2700, Norway - 3000.

    Employers who hire foreigners legally, following all procedures required by law, usually comply with these requirements.

    But if you get a job through intermediaries - this problem is especially relevant for Ukrainians and Belarusians - there is a high probability of getting a job with a wage of 1.5–2 euros per hour.

    Low official salaries are usually compensated by bonuses provided by employers. Such conditions include the provision of living space, transportation to and from work, paid or organized meals. For seasonal workers who come to Europe to earn money, such assistance is a serious help.

    Today in this article we will talk about working abroad for Russians without intermediaries. I found current job offers, vacancies for 2017. See all the countries in which you will find work for Russians below. Fresh vacancies without intermediaries and even without knowledge of the language.

    If you don’t know a foreign language, it will be quite difficult for you to find a job abroad, but it is possible. In addition to Russians, people from Africa and Asia also apply for the position of ordinary workers. There is practically no shortage of workers, which is why labor abroad is so cheap for visitors from other countries.

    If you know English, it’s not difficult to find a vacancy. If you are a teacher, doctor, manager, then you will find a job with a salary of 6 - 12 thousand euros. People who work and have a specialty in the IT field are more highly valued. A programmer abroad receives about 150,000 – 350,000 euros every year.

    Programming. A very promising and in-demand profession abroad. Why not create your own website or application that will make money?

    There are other equally profitable activities on the Internet that can turn a hobby into good income. The main thing is to find what interests you and actively move towards your goal. This is the only way you will find work abroad for Russians and will have other sources of income as support.

    Over the past few years, there has been a trend towards an increase in the number of Russians looking for work abroad. According to statistics, 58% of Russian residents are ready to leave the country for the sake of a lucrative offer. 18% of respondents are categorically against leaving, and 24% of respondents consider moving as a possible option for earning money.

    Those wishing to find work abroad can be divided into several groups:

    • graduates who have not yet started a family;
    • young professionals who dream of achieving career success in developed countries and top managers who have received offers for leadership positions in subsidiary offices in other countries.

    Which countries attract labor migrants

    Russians often choose the USA, Great Britain, Canada, Poland and other European countries as countries for migration. In addition, China, the UAE, South American countries, and Hong Kong are popular.

    Competition in the labor market in Europe today is very high. Visiting migrants have to compete not only with local candidates, but also with residents of the so-called peripheral states of the European Union. The easiest way to find work abroad is one that requires heavy physical labor. Many foreign companies are looking for representatives of construction specialties. There is a demand for specialists with secondary specialized education and work experience. Tilers, pavers, and painters can expect to earn up to $600 per month. Accommodation and meals are not included in this amount. In the Russian Federation, such specialists earn an average of 30 thousand rubles ̶ from 20 to 45 thousand rubles ̶ depending on the region of residence.

    Nurses and service personnel are in demand abroad. Nannies, waitresses, and bartenders can earn up to $700 a month before tips and allowances. In Russia, representatives of such professions earn an average of 30 thousand rubles per month. Moscow waiters at elite establishments earn up to 45 thousand rubles.

    The IT sector stands apart from the general trends. Programmers and developers from the Russian Federation are in high demand. Often the key to success when searching for a job for IT professionals is a well-filled LinkedIn page. The salary level for programmers abroad is 60-65% higher than in Russia. Experts at the Senior PHP developer level are especially valued. They are willing to pay such specialists up to 60 thousand dollars a year.
