With a mustache yourself, or we refill cartridges at home. Refilling inkjet printer cartridges How to refill a printer at home

The printer is increasingly becoming a part of everyday life for almost all users. And buying a printer is a very difficult and responsible issue that sooner or later any of us has to decide. More and more people are inclined to purchase inkjet equipment. There are a number of reasons for this: low initial price, huge selection, speed, color printing, etc. The first prints on these devices leave an amazing impression, but disappointment sets in very quickly. And this happens when the user finds out the price of original cartridges - it can sometimes reach 90% of the original price of the printer. A few calculations and it is clear that the cost of a print on an inkjet printer is very high. However, there is a method that can reduce the cost of consumables tenfold. This is refilling cartridges. No matter how hard manufacturers try to convince users to use original consumables, refilling is part of modern printing.

This article does not advocate the use of non-original consumables. Its goal is simply to show that it is possible. So, you are the owner of an inkjet printer, you have decided to refill cartridges; and you are faced with only two questions: what to refuel and how to refuel...

What to fill with

Of course, inkjet cartridges are refilled with ink of a certain chemical composition, which, however, is not important for us. It is important that each cartridge has its own “native” ink, and of course, there are more or less compatible types of ink. Keep in mind that original ink is not and cannot be on sale! Ink for ink cartridges sold separately can only be called compatible, since they are produced by chemical giants that are far removed from the printer industry.

What is recommended for refueling? Of course, you can buy a bottle of ink and use improvised materials for work. But this is quite inconvenient and requires some skill. It’s easier and more convenient to use a refill kit, and the ink itself is usually of better quality.

There are many kit manufacturers out there, but I personally like InkTek. In each set you will find: direct ink containers, syringes (they are different from medical ones, the needle in them has a larger cross-sectional area), a drill, a pumping device; and, if this is needed for a specific cartridge, then the following will be included: stickers, plugs, napkins, and other small items. Following the instructions, you can refill the cartridge without any problems, but more on that below.

How to refuel

Before starting work, you need to clearly know whether the cartridge can be refilled or not. If we ignore mechanical and electrical damage to cartridges and consider only fully functional devices, then we are dealing with two factors that interfere with refilling: drying out and clogging. It should be remembered that any cartridge dries out after about 2 months of inactivity, regardless of whether it is empty or not. Methods for restoring dried cartridges will be discussed below, but it is important to remember that after this the original quality will no longer be restored.

Now let’s take a closer look at the models and technologies...

This company, like no other, maintains traditions in the production of inkjet cartridges. All products are made according to the same pattern; the ink inside the reservoir is held by an absorbent sponge, and the reservoir itself is combined with the print head into one unit.

Several conclusions immediately follow from this. The cartridge does not require sealing, which is undoubtedly a plus. The downside is that over time the sponge hardens and loses its absorbency. This factor, as a rule, is the limiter on the number of refills: there can be no more than 3-4 pieces. If you get more, then you are definitely lucky. But let's move directly to the methodology. The black cartridge is very easy to refill: at the top you will find a small hole (slightly smaller than the diameter of the refill needle). A needle is inserted into the hole, and the required amount of ink is slowly (this is important!) introduced. They usually bleed slightly from the nozzles, and it is recommended to pump out 0.5-1 ml of ink from below using a syringe and suction cup from the refill kit. This will allow you to saturate the supply capillaries, clean the nozzles, and, in fact, make sure that the filling is correct. If you do not want to use a small hole, you can drill another one in any part of the top cover. After refueling, it is recommended to seal it with tape. Since we are talking about it, I will say that it is better to use good and very sticky tape.

The color cartridge is refilled in the same way, only you need to remove the top cover. It is not glued tightly and can be easily removed with a drill or a thin screwdriver. Under the cover you will see six holes. Three are important for us (Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, respectively). We insert the desired colors into our holes and glue the lid. Again, it doesn’t hurt to drain 1 ml of ink through the nozzles. After refilling, the cartridges are inserted into the printer and a test page is printed containing color images and text. Problems may arise, but how to solve them will be discussed below.

Epson is not Lexmark. In the printers of this company, the print head is installed permanently, and the cartridges are ink containers attached to the head. And here are some gloomy statistics: according to some data, in more than 50% of cases, Epson printers fail due to a clogged head, and most often the print heads become clogged due to the use of non-original consumables. The price of replacing the print head reaches 85% of the price of the printer.

Think very carefully before refilling Epson cartridges, and if you decide, then know that we are not responsible for anything! In any case, you will have to have two identical cartridges for your printer, because removing the reservoir from the head for more than 30-50 seconds is not recommended to avoid drying out the head.

The refilling technology is simple: remove one cartridge and put another in its place while refilling. First, the holes at the bottom are sealed, and this must be done thoroughly so as not to leave the ink any chance to leak out. Then ink is slowly introduced into the hole, which is almost always located at the top of the cartridge under the sticker. If there is no hole, then it should be made with a drill. Then you need to wait 5-10 minutes until the ink is absorbed into the container. Then the tape is removed, the leaked ink is removed, and the cartridges can be inserted into the printer. This technique is suitable for black and color cartridges, only in the case of color refilling - the ink is introduced into its holes one by one. Try not to overdo it, it is always better to underfill 1-2 ml than to overfill.

Epson is waging the fiercest fight to use original consumables. All new printers have cartridges with CSIC chips, which will prevent the cartridge from working after refilling. The chip is installed on the side of the tank.

The printer will not accept a refilled cartridge until the CSIC chips are reset, but this is not as difficult as it may seem. There are a number of electronic circuits for resetting, but it’s easier to use a special program, since there are a lot of them on the network. It is worth mentioning that not all chips can be reset; The chips of new models are not reset, but this is a matter of time.

Epson printers are very good and high-quality devices, but they require proper treatment. If such a printer ends up with a careless owner, then problems with it are guaranteed. If the head becomes clogged due to poor quality consumables or downtime, then repair in most cases does not make sense; it is easier to buy a new printer. So we urge you to think hard again about whether you need this.

Hewlett Packard

Printers from this company come with several types of cartridges, and refilling methods for each of them differ. All cartridges have one thing in common - the print head is always combined with the ink reservoir, which is very advantageous. In the worst cases, you can throw away the cartridge, buy a new one and enjoy normal print quality.

Refilling cartridges for HP DeskJet 800 and 900 series printers

These devices use the same cartridges.

The colored one is easier to refill, so let's start with it. It is divided into three separate reservoirs, each of which is plugged with a stopper. They can be found if you look at the cartridge from above. The plugs can be pressed inward or picked out with certain skill, but if you decide to push them through, then immediately think about what you will use to plug the holes with later. It is important to know that all HP cartridges need to seal the ventilation holes before refilling; they are usually located on the bottom or side. Tightness is not required here because The ink is held in place by the sponge, but a lot of ventilation is not needed. You need to introduce ink slowly, after clogging you should wait 5 minutes, and drain 1 ml of ink from the cartridge using the suction cup from the kit.

The black cartridge is more difficult to refill: the ink is retained in it due to the pressure difference between the outside and inside, so complete sealing is mandatory! The refill hole for the black cartridge is located at the bottom. First, seal the ventilation hole. Of course, after refueling, the tape from the ventilation holes must be removed. Turn the cartridge over and take out the iron ball. If there is no other ball in stock, I do not recommend pushing it inside. As always, inject the ink slowly. Then you squeeze the cartridge from the sides, insert the ball, and seal it well with tape. Use the suction cup to pump out 2-3 ml of ink from the cartridge. If there is no suction cup, then the cartridge should be placed on the table and wait about 1 hour until the excess ink flows out to normalize the internal pressure. If the ink flows heavily or for a long time, then the sealing is done incorrectly and all the ink will leak out. This will probably happen for a couple of gas stations, but don’t despair, with experience you will learn to do everything well.

Refilling cartridges for HP DeskJet 400, 500 and 600 series printers

Let's look at a classic example: cartridge model 51649A is color, and cartridge 51629A is black.

The colored one is again easier to refill. Seal the ventilation hole at the bottom and remove the cover at the top. It sits on glue, so it will take some effort. We pump all three colors into the syringe, trying not to overfill, otherwise the colors may mix, and there is nothing good about that. We put the lid in place - it can be glued with tape or glue. We remove the tape. We wait 2 minutes, suck out 1 ml of ink using a suction cup. An important detail: the 49th cartridge dries very quickly without ink, so it must be refilled as soon as possible after emptying.

In the black cartridge, the ink is held inside by 2 air bags and is clearly visible from the outside. The bags cannot be damaged; after this, the cartridge can simply be thrown away. First, the valves are sealed at the top and bottom. You need to make a hole in the cartridge cover (on the side or top), this can be done with the drill from the kit. The syringe slowly fills in ink. Then, the hole is tightly, very tightly sealed with tape. Remove the tape from the valves. 2-3 ml of air is pumped into the upper hole, but it is important not to damage the bags. Ink will begin to actively appear from the nozzles, but this process will not take long. As soon as the ink stops oozing, make sure there is a complete seal and insert the cartridge. I want to say that refilling black cartridges for HP DeskJet 400, 500 and 600 series is quite difficult, and, perhaps, is one of the most unpleasant types of refills. Today, such equipment is already obsolete, but consumables still sell well - quite a lot of such printers were sold before.

Refilling cartridges for new HP printers

In new models, HP began to use cartridges with a holding sponge for all colors. As an example, we can cite cartridges C6656A and C6657A.

These cartridges are much easier to refill than older models. Under the stickers there are holes into which the ink is actually pumped. The sticker can be torn off or pierced in the right place. Slowly introduce ink and seal everything as it was originally. Ink should bleed slightly from the nozzles. If for some reason there are no holes, then they can be made with a drill. As you can see, refueling is simple. However, such cartridges have disadvantages - a very small resource (about 300 prints), and a limited number of refills - the sponge, as mentioned above, tends to dry out and lose its properties.

This manufacturer has a very clever design of cartridges: the ink reservoirs are combined with a removable print head. This is very convenient, because... You can change both the reservoirs and the head. This becomes especially true after repeated refueling.

These cartridges are very easy to refill. We take out what we want to refill from the printer. It is advisable not to keep the head empty for a long time, although nothing bad will happen during refueling (5-10 minutes). Seal the outlet holes from the bottom. Then remove the cover. It is firmly glued, but don't be afraid to break it. Enter the required amount of ink, wait a couple of minutes, peel off the tape. We return the cartridge to its place, removing the leaked ink. The color one is filled in exactly the same way, only three colors are introduced. It is very important not to mix colors, otherwise everything printed with such a cartridge will, to put it mildly, be of poor quality.

The above describes a method for refilling separate cartridges, but Canon has others. For example, instead of BCI-21, you can insert BC-20 if only black and white printing is required, which is often done in offices. These cartridges are also quite easy to refill. In the upper corner you will find a plastic plug; you need to pull it out. This is done using a drill or screw. We screw it in and pull it out, the plug fits very tightly, so don’t be afraid to apply force, in reasonable amounts, of course. Inject the ink with a syringe. We put the plug in place, wait 2 minutes, and the cartridge is ready to print. You don’t have to pull the cork out, but simply pierce it. Color cartridges of this type (BC-05) are refilled the same way, only there are three plugs, so we do everything three times. As a rule, there are no problems with Canon cartridges.

Recovery

Now let's move on to the issue of restoration. Restoration should be understood as the process of cleaning components after ink has dried or channels become clogged. I want to warn you right away that this is a very delicate issue, and if the instructions are not followed or mistakes are made, it will be even worse! Do not try to restore cartridges that have clearly expired; this procedure will only help young samples. Never expect full return to print quality. All manipulations should be carried out with only two liquids: distilled water (ordinary water is not suitable), and special liquids (each cartridge has its own), but it is better to use water. In order not to write a lot, we will divide cartridges into three groups: with an absorbent sponge, with vacuum ink retention, and with a separate head. Let's start in order... If the cartridge with a sponge inside dries out, you should try to soak the sponge. To do this, place the cartridge with nozzles in the distillate for a day. It is important to pour little water so that only the nozzles are immersed in it. Then the cartridge is filled with ink. It doesn't hurt to pump the ink through the suction cup with a syringe, but don't use too much force. Pull the syringe slowly, without sudden jerks, and when the ink begins to come out evenly and in large quantities (no more than 10 ml), it is better to stop the procedure. Before inserting the cartridge into the printer, wipe it clean of any remaining ink, and pay special attention to the electronics contacts. Do 2-3 head cleanings and print a test page. If it was printed normally, then you are lucky, but if the quality is unsatisfactory, then you will have to come to terms with it: this type of cartridge is very difficult to restore.

And finally, separate print heads. They are, in fact, restored, because if problems arise with the tank, they simply throw it away, because nothing can be done with it. Do not try to immediately apply radical methods to the heads; try performing the software head cleaning procedure implemented by the printer drivers several times. If this does not help, then remove the head (to do this, the printer is disassembled; instructions for disassembling specific models can be found on the Internet). Do everything as carefully as possible, and just as carefully put the head to soak in water for 1-2 days. Then reassemble the printer and clean the heads. If after 5-10 times there is no result, then relax - it will no longer be there. There are also more radical methods, such as cleaning nozzles with ultrasound, but they are not available to the average user, so we will not describe them. Take the printer to a service center.

Remember, cartridges cannot be restored: those with hardened sponges, damaged electronics, mechanically damaged nozzles, broken seals (cracks, damage to bags), those that are too dry or clogged.

Conclusion

If you clearly understand everything written, then you can really save a lot of money. But after reading this article, many will think that original consumables are not needed at all. Remember - this is not so, refueling is a necessary measure to save money. And you shouldn’t abuse it, because... The saying “The miser pays twice” has not yet been canceled. You should not try to do this yourself - you will only once again be convinced of its truth.

And remember that only by purchasing original consumables can you count on high-quality printing, as well as warranty service if your printer suddenly needs it. In all other cases, no one, including us, gives any guarantees, and all responsibility for all your actions and their consequences lies, of course, only with you.

Have you changed your mind yet?

A laser printer cartridge usually runs out at the most inopportune moment - you urgently need to print a document, and there is no money for a new cartridge (and new cartridges are very expensive, often half the cost of the printer). In this case, you should try to refill the cartridge - refilling Kolomenskaya metro cartridges. It will cost several times less, because you will only need to buy ink.

How to determine whether a laser printer needs to be refilled?

To determine if a laser cartridge needs refilling, look to see if the white vertical stripe on paper. If it is there, it means that the toner has run out and the cartridge really needs to be refilled. If you urgently need to print a few more sheets, you can use this technique - remove the cartridge from the printer and shake it thoroughly. Replace the cartridge. Print quality will improve slightly. This technique can be used several times, but remember that the cartridge needs to be refilled quickly.

Many laser cartridges have a chip installed that counts the amount of ink used. Even after refilling, it will show that the toner is empty and remind you of this all the time. If you can ignore this when working, then you don’t need to do anything. But if it bothers you, you need to reset counter or replace the chip if reset is not possible.

Toner selection

When purchasing toner, try to do it in specialized supplies stores. Buy exactly the toner that matches your laser cartridge. If you have a choice of toner of the same capacity, but from different manufacturers, purchase the one that is more expensive. This way you have more guarantees that it will be of high quality and the printing will be better.

Problems that may arise when refilling cartridges

The most common problem is that the toner is a black fine powder, which, with the slightest carelessness, ends up scattered throughout the work area. Therefore, be careful when refilling the laser printer. If this is your first time, cover the table with old newspapers and wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Take things slowly. Carefully disassemble and reassemble the laser printer cartridge. Its service life depends on this.

How to refill a laser printer cartridge at home (general recommendations):

  1. Try not to touch the working parts of the cartridge with your hands, namely: the photodrum, rubber shaft, magnetic shaft, squeegee, and so on.
  2. Hold the cartridge by the body only. If you do touch something, wipe the area with a dry, soft and clean cloth.
  3. Pour in the toner carefully, in small portions, preferably through some kind of funnel (it can even be made from a sheet of paper).

Algorithm: how to refill a color laser printer

You will need:

  • Toner powder
  • Paper towels or newspapers
  • Rubber gloves (highly recommended)
  • Smart chip (replacement if necessary)
  1. Successfully refilling a laser printer cartridge begins with toner selection. Indeed, in terms of their physical and chemical properties, toners from different manufacturers are far from the same: they can have small or large particles, lighter or heavier weight, and even different components in their composition. Very often, users do not pay attention to this, but the use of toner with unsuitable characteristics affects both the print quality and the condition of the printer.
  2. Decide where you will refuel, and cover the table or floor with clean newspapers(it is easier to collect accidentally spilled toner from them). Use thin housekeeping gloves to protect your hands from unwanted exposure to the powder.

3. Inspect the cartridge: it has a reservoir where the toner is poured. If there is a hole in the tank, you may need to remove the plug. You may need to make the hole yourself - this is made using tools sold in threading kits. Such a set must be accompanied by instructions with detailed instructions on how to burn it. After completing the work, the hole is sealed with foil.

  1. There are containers with toner closed with a so-called “nosed” lid. In this case, the “spout” is inserted into the filling hole, and the container is gently squeezed - this way, the toner will gradually fall out. Toner is poured from a container without a spout through a funnel (you can twist a paper one). As a rule, one filling uses the entire contents of the container, so don’t be afraid to overdo it.
  2. Now it remains close the filling hole. For this, as already mentioned, foil is suitable (the instructions clearly state how it is glued). And if you took the plug out of the hole, you just need to press it back.

Refilled cartridge needed shake a little, this will distribute the toner throughout the entire tank. After this, the cartridge is ready for use.

True, the printer may not “recognize” such a cartridge, since it happens that the chip blocks it from working. Therefore, it will be necessary to remove the cartridge again and replace its chip with a new one (zero the chip) - usually it is also included in the standard refill kit.

As you can see, refill laser printer cartridge– it’s easier than steamed turnips!

How to refill a printer video

Step-by-step instructions with photographs for refilling the HP 122 black-and-white inkjet cartridge. These instructions are suitable for any HP or Canon inkjet cartridge with a built-in print head.

View instructions for refilling HP 122 color

Use a utility knife to carefully remove the top sticker from the cartridge.

These are air duct holes; ink will be refilled through them.

In our example, the cartridge is completely empty and weighs 24 grams.

To refill, you will need a medical disposable syringe and pigment or water-soluble ink.

Now you need to fill the syringe with ink, then carefully insert the needle into the cartridge as shown in the photo below.

Do not insert the needle all the way to avoid damaging the print head filter. The photo below shows the recommended level the needle should reach.

Now press the plunger very slowly so that the ink evenly fills the absorbent material inside the cartridge reservoir. Look at the cartridge nozzles: if ink begins to leak out of them, you can stop refilling. This option is suitable if the cartridge nozzles are not dry. Another sign that the cartridge is already full is ink coming out of the air ducts. Carefully remove them with a napkin or cloth.

If you stop the flow of ink, and it still protrudes on the surface of the print head, use a syringe to pump the ink back until it stops flowing out spontaneously.

In our example, the weight of a full HP 122 cartridge was 32 grams. Thus, this cartridge held 32-24=8 grams of ink.

Touch the print head of the cartridge to a cotton pad or clean cloth. The cartridge will leave a print in the form of a narrow black stripe - this is the result of correctly refilling the cartridge.

After installing the cartridge into the printer, clean it using the service menu from the driver settings.

/ / . You can extend the life of the cartridges: black hp 122 can withstand up to eight refills, and color – about five.

Don't miss the moment. The nozzle plate of the print head heats up during operation, and the ink cools it. When the refill runs out, there is not enough coolant and the nozzles quickly become clogged with overheated ink. Sometimes such a cartridge cannot be restored in any way and can only be thrown away. If white stripes appear or the printing is simply fuzzy - stop working and don’t put off refilling.

The situation is quite likely: the ink has run out, and you urgently need to print more than one page. And the workshop where they can help is located on the other side of the city. You can deal with this problem yourself if you know exactly how to refill an hp 122 cartridge.

HP OCP Ink - (Click to Enlarge)

Take care in advance of purchasing suitable ink (the label must have hp 122); it is better not to buy universal ones. If the paint is packaged in bottles, you will have to run to the pharmacy for regular medical syringes.

Important: Even a full cartridge can dry out if it has not been used for a long time. To prevent this problem, print one or two pages every week.

It is necessary to prepare the workplace: remove all important papers and cover the table with newspaper. To refill, take ink, four syringes, toilet or other soft paper, and put on rubber gloves. A black cartridge can hold up to 10 ml of ink, a color cartridge can hold a maximum of 3 ml. You need to fill the syringes very carefully so that there is no air or foam. It’s more convenient to prepare all four at once. You can use one, but rinse it with distilled water and be sure to dry it before using it again.

To clear the refill holes, peel off the labels. The pictures below indicate where to add ink.

note that There are two types of color cartridge. This means that before refueling you need to determine which option is in your hands. There are several ways to find out. Press the print head against the toilet paper: the middle print is from the ink poured into the top chamber. You can just look into the filling hole. Or dip the tip of a needle there and see what color it turns.

Now you need to wipe the nozzles with flushing liquid or distilled water and you can start refueling.

Refueling

For a color cartridge, the order is strict:

  1. yellow;
  2. red;
  3. blue.

Lower the needle into the desired hole 2–3 cm and inject ink. You need to act slowly, ideally 15 seconds per 1 ml. And watch carefully when ink begins to appear in the filling hole. After all, ink in a color cartridge is not consumed equally and it is impossible to know how much will be needed for a full refill. If you accidentally overfilled it, you can pull the syringe plunger back and take some of the paint back. We do the same with red and blue.

Refilling the black HP 122 cartridge has some features. The picture in red shows the place where the additional chamber is located, which also needs to be filled with ink. To do this, you will need to pierce the cleaning filter with a needle. This doesn’t sound very good, but it’s the lesser of two evils; otherwise, when refilling, the filter does not allow ink to pass through and air accumulates in the additional chamber. Which, in turn, leads to printing problems.

If you press too hard while piercing the filter and allow the needle to go deeper than shown, you may damage the print head. This will not happen if you point the syringe at a 45 degree angle.

Returning cartridges to the printer

Refilling is complete, all that remains is to wipe the cartridge with soft paper and return the stickers to their place. Some experts recommend not removing the stickers when refueling, but simply piercing them and not sealing them. This is motivated by the fact that a vacuum is created inside, which reduces the service life.

Before installing cartridges into the printer, wipe the contacts with alcohol or a regular eraser. Even if the paint didn’t get there, it won’t hurt.

The video below will show how you can make a reinforced one from a standard black HP 122 cartridge and refill it. The video is in Portuguese, but I hope everything will be clear.

Have fun typing.

Ink for refilling: HP RDM inks have proven themselves to be excellent.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW!

When refilling color cartridges HP 121, HP 122, be sure to follow the sequence:

  1. yellow is refilled first
  2. secondly, red ink is filled
  3. and only as a last resort is refilling with blue ink done

When refilling inkjet cartridges HP 121, HP 122 into the filling hole located directly above the print head of the cartridge, insert the syringe needle into the filling hole at approximately a 45 degree angle.
Inject ink from the syringe into the cartridge slowly, avoid getting air bubbles and air foam inside the cartridge.

How to refill an HP 122, HP 121 cartridge. Basic methods

Step 1. Before refilling the HP121, HP 122 cartridge, carefully clean the outer part of the print head of the cartridge with a soft paper napkin moistened with washing liquid.
Step 2. Place the cartridge with the print head down on a paper towel.
Step 3. Carefully, using a utility knife, remove the label from the cartridge
Step 4. Using syringes with needles, sticking the syringe needle into the desired hole (shown in the photo) fill in ink. Color cartridge contains 2-3 ml, black cartridge contains 8-10 ml.

New versions of HP 121, HP 122 cartridges

Step 5. If ink begins to flow through the refill hole, stop refilling.
To refill each color, use a separate syringe and needle or rinse them with warm (not hot) distilled water.
Step 6. A design feature of black inkjet cartridges HP 121, HP 122 is the presence of a “pre-filter”. In order to more quickly receive newly refilled ink from the refill hopper into the print head of the cartridge, it is necessary to break the internal structure of the cartridge and, through some mechanical action, simply pierce the “pre-filter” and fill the container located under it with ink.

ATTENTION! To avoid mechanical damage to the print head of the cartridge, the depth of penetration of the needle must be controlled (shown in the photo below). When filling, it is recommended to insert the syringe needle into the filling hole at an angle of 45 degrees.
