Tibetan astrology (zurhai). Tibetan astrology and astronomy For men born in this month

Astrology helps us better understand ourselves, our friends and loved ones, children and parents. You can also find out the secrets of other people. How is this possible? The fact is that each year in Tibetan Astrology is associated with a certain element and symbolic animal sign that influence the person born in that time period. When performing a deep analysis of the Tibetan Personality Horoscope, the astrologer also takes into account the influence of the hour and day of birth of a person.

The Mystery of Your Element

Tibetan astrology studies the influence of five elements on us and our future: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. ( Let me immediately note that in Tibetan astrology and geomancy Sache there is another system of five elements, closely related to Tibetan medicine). Knowledge of the five elements comes from the ancient Bon tradition. Each element has its own characteristics. The five elements are dynamic and in constant interaction. And although their characteristics differ, none of the five elements can be considered separately from the others. In astrology, the essence of the elements is considered unique because they are all manifestations of pure energy. Each of the elements represents a special function of energy in our world and manifests itself in a person’s character in its own way. Below are general interpretations of the elements.

A deeper analysis takes into account the influence of the hour and day of birth of a person and other indicators of the Tibetan Horoscope. Therefore, some people may notice the influence of several elements or some other element may be more pronounced.

History of Tibetan astrology

The concept of “Tibetan astrology” does not imply any separate, independent astrological tradition created specifically on the territory of Tibet and spread only in Tibet. Over the course of thousands of years, cultures, traditions and knowledge have been borrowed between the various peoples who inhabited our planet in ancient times.

Names of the 12 zodiac constellations, characteristics of the planets of the “Solar System”, theory of the elements (fire, earth, wind, water), principles of mathematical calculations, planets - rulers of the seven days of the week (Sunday - the day of the Sun, Monday - the day of the Moon, Tuesday - the day of Mars and etc.), planets - rulers of the time of day and many other astrological cycles are absolutely identical in all astrological traditions that have survived to this day.

According to some Tibetan sources, in ancient times (more than 18 thousand years ago) there was a single astrological Knowledge that was brought to Earth by Enlightened beings with the goal of Liberating all living beings from suffering. Numerous legends and stories telling about this have been preserved in ancient Tibetan texts. The uniqueness of the Tibetan tradition is that thanks to it we can still touch the Knowledge of ancient civilizations. Tibetan astrology has been passed down from teacher to student for thousands of years and remains an uninterrupted astrological tradition to this day. Many calculation methods and astrological treatises, for certain reasons lost by other astrological schools, were preserved in the mountain monasteries of Tibet, are still studied and continue to be transmitted from Teacher to student.

In Tibet, as in other countries, one government was replaced by another, a new religion replaced the old (traditional), changes were made to the history of the state and the social consciousness of the people, historians took one side or the other and created corresponding chronicles. Due to the above reasons, at present, among modern historians studying the culture and traditions of Tibet, there is no consensus on the origin and periods of development of Tibetan astrology.

We offer several versions on this issue for your consideration.

The following is a translation of the article “History of Tibetan Astrology” posted on the official website of the Institute of Tibetan Medicine and Astrology under the Dalai Lama (Dharmasala, India):

Tibetan astrology has been known since ancient times. Its oldest written sources date back to the 7th century AD. Until this time, astrological knowledge was transmitted from mouth to mouth in poetic form.

The Tibetan astrological system is unique. It developed on the basis of the ancient Bon religion, native to this people, and was influenced by neighboring China, India, Persia and Greece, as well as the philosophy of Buddhism. Although Tibetan astrology contains aspects common to the Indian and Chinese systems, the way they are used and interpreted differs. That is why Tibetan astrology is an independent and different system.

Until the 2nd century BC. e.

In ancient times, the Bon religion dominated Tibet, and elemental astrology already existed in it. But little is known about the original form of this astrology. It is known that even then there was knowledge about the five primary elements - Wood, Fire, Earth, Iron and Water - as well as about the phases of the Moon and the Sun. Fortune telling and the system of predictions were based on shamanism with its black and white magic, spells, animal sacrifices and human blood.

From the 2nd century BC. e. to 4th century AD e.

During the reign of the first king of Tibet, Nyatri Tsenpo (he ascended the throne in 127 BC), twelve major Bon doctrines were created with a detailed system, among which were astrology and medicine.

During this period of time, astrology was actively developing, but it is quite difficult to determine the exact dates of the stages of this development. Bon astrologers connected the five primary elements with the internal energies of Sog (life), Lu (body), Wangtang (strength) and Lungta (luck). They also explored the magic square with the nine numbers of mewa, at the same time the system of twelve animal years began to form. The principle of eight trigrams (parkha) (also known from the I Ching) supposedly comes from China.

4th century AD e.

The first Buddhist teachings and sacred texts arrived in Tibet, and with them the further development of astrology and astronomy.

6th century

The Tibetan king Namri Songtsen sends four scientists abroad to study astrology. They returned with great knowledge of astrology and passed it on orally.

7th century

The 33rd king of Tibet, Songtsen Gampo (617-650), took his fifth wife - the Chinese princess Kong Ju. She was a Buddhist and brought large Buddha statues to Tibet as her dowry, but she also knew astrology and brought with her many books on classical Chinese elemental astrology. The king built a Buddhist temple and sent one of his ministers to India with the goal of creating a written Tibetan language so that sacred Buddhist texts could be translated into Tibetan. This project was successfully implemented, and since that time written sources, including those on astrology, have appeared in Tibet.

8th century

This century was the "Golden Age" for Tibetan medicine, astrology, and Dharma. There was active development in all areas of science, and this period inspired Tibetan scientists for many subsequent centuries. King Trisong Detsen (718-785) invited the Indian sage Guru Padmasambhava to transmit the Teaching. He refined the astrology of the elements by combining it with Buddhist philosophy and introduced the concept that the elements in their pure form are the basis of all life in the universe and the same elements in their impure form are poisons to the body.

9th century

Tibet suffered from weak governance and cultural decline, which also adversely affected astrology.

10th century

After ascending the throne, the new king of Tibet sent scholars to India to bring back some of the teachings that had been lost during the decline. This period is called the “Late Translations” in Tibetan historical chronicles. Other important astrological texts were translated at this time. Elemental astrology, which came from East Turkestan and had significant Chinese influence, began to use a 60-year cycle that combined animals and elements.

11th century

Sri Kalachakra Tantra was translated from Sanskrit into Tibetan in the year of the Fire Rabbit (1027). This text contains the basics of modern Tibetan astronomy, based on which today the Tibetan astrological calendar is compiled, indicating the daily positions of the stars, planets and zodiac signs.

12th century

Yangchar (Shiva Swarodhaya Tantra), which means the Arising of Vowels, was translated from Sanskrit into Tibetan.

17th century

Tibetan astronomy and astrology reached a new peak when Desi Sanje Gyatso, regent of the Fifth Dalai Lama, Ngawang Lobsang Gyatso compiled a collection of astrological texts. Even after almost four hundred years, this text is still used by Tibetan astrologers.

20th century

In 1916, the 13th Dalai Lama founded the Men-Tsi Khang Institute of Astrology and Medicine in Lhasa. Following the Chinese invasion of Tibet, the 14th Dalai Lama, who fled his country, re-established the Men-Tsi Khang Institute in Dharmasala, northern India, in 1961.

Alexander Khosmo

Tibetan astrology is a huge, self-sufficient science that has absorbed the knowledge of the Ancients about natural phenomena, the laws of time and space, the laws of karma and methods of Liberation. Tibetan astrology can answer any question; the entire Universe is reflected in this science - as in the “Mirror of Existence”. An attempt to convey such a system, but, most importantly, an attempt to comprehend it, obliges us to look at the world through the eyes of a man of antiquity, a man from bygone eras.

Astrology allows you to get to know yourself better: your strengths and weaknesses, your individual rhythm of life and your compatibility with other people. She gives advice and recommendations for difficult periods, helps prevent troubles and clarifies many issues for us. She teaches us that the future is in our hands, and we are the creators of our own lives and happiness. Astrology is based on common sense, accurate calculations and deep knowledge that have benefited people for many centuries.

Tibetan astrology originated more than 4,000 years ago and has traditionally been part of Tibetan medicine and geomancy (analogous to Feng Shui). As a result of studying Tibetan astrology, we can learn more deeply about favorable and unfavorable periods in our lives, our abilities, financial situation, vital energy level, health, luck, luck, a suitable partner.

To penetrate into the essence of Tibetan astrology, it becomes necessary to understand the goals and objectives that it was designed to solve. In ancient Tibet, one of the names of astrological science was " an astrologer who knows how to control the order of being", and the true master of astrological knowledge was considered as a person who, through his past good actions, had acquired power over the course of events and the ability to be a judge between good and evil deeds. That is, truly cosmogonic functions were attributed to astrological science: it was called upon to control the movement of the cosmos and compensate for those violations in the relationship of principles that arose in the distant past during the formation of the Universe.

Speaking about the tasks that Tibetan astrology was designed to solve, we should not forget that it is inseparable from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition as a whole. And for this reason, her goals were subordinated to the highest goal of Buddhism - the enlightenment of beings. The former task of astrology - “managing the order of being” - has turned from the main goal into a means, which is associated with a change in the value system and worldview of Tibetan society.

Anyone can easily master Tibetan astrology: draw up and interpret horoscopes for two, forecast for the year and for life. In-depth study allows you to penetrate the secrets of the family horoscope, the horoscope of possible death and the horoscope of illnesses.

Tibetan a Strology deeply studies the system of five elements, which are the basis of all phenomena and their influence on human life. In Tibet, medicine and astrology are closely related, because these sciences have one basis - the theory of the five primary elements. It is precisely because they have the same foundation that astrology helps to find the right and shortest paths to a cure for diseases. If we rely on the basic theory that our body consists of five elements, and the external world also consists of five elements, then it becomes clear that the harmony of the external and internal world, their integrity in the flow of time is the basis of health. This is one of the most important arguments in favor of studying Tibetan astrology.

The following main tasks can be identified that can be solved within the framework of Tibetan astrology:

· support for harmony in the process of everyday, mundane life (identification of favorable and unfavorable periodsdov for various types of activities, relationships, decisions...);

· calculation of time periods favorable for fulfillmentnition of rituals for interaction with creatures from other dimensionstions for worldly purposes (for example, rituals to neutralize harmful spirits)

· negative effects on human health from evil spirits);

· helping people move along the path of liberation in the middleby identifying their karmic problems, predicting periods of activation of negative karmic tendencies, etc. (we all have basic positive and negative karmicsome traces accumulated over many incarnations, which are in a potential state and await the conditions for theirits manifestations. When we come under the influence of malefic planets and stars, negative karmic traces take root and manifest themselves in unwanted actions and delusions.different states of consciousness. During such periods, you can perform cleansing rituals or use advice on how to behave to avoid creating new negative karma);

· calculation of periods favorable for performing rituals fishing for interaction with beings from other dimensions for not worldly, but spiritual purposes (thus, there are special “days of Dakinis”, “days of Guardians”, etc., on which it is most favorableapproaching various classes of enlightened beings to gainhelp on the spiritual path);

· using astrological methods to optimize workyou are with energy – with channels, chakras, etc. (the state of our subtle energy system is subject tobut the influence of various astrological factors, in addition to issues of geomancy, the consideration of which is desirable for success in tantrics some practice).

Since astrology is the science of the interaction of the stellar system with the Macro- and microcosm of living beings and more, Tibeto-Buddhist astrology differs from Western and other types of astrology in that it considers the impact of solar and stellar systems in a mandatory relationship with the karma of the beings themselves, both in general and in individual cases of life.

In order to more fully appreciate the significance of Tibetan astrology, one must see its place within the framework of the Teaching of which it is an integral part. Tibetan medicine and Tibetan astrology are organic derivatives of Cosmogony. That is, the process of the emergence and disappearance of the world (Macrocosm) and the scheme of its organization, expressed in the main astrological mandala (or Universal mandala) with the image of a turtle, on whose shell there arenumbers (Meva), trigrams (Park) And 12 animals (Savdaki ), is transferred to the process of the emergence and disappearance of man (microcosm). The Meva numbers and the Park trigrams are important for determining the situation in a person’s life from the point of view of the elements: “As above, so below.” In this system, astrology and medicine are external Tantras, i.e. sections of the Teaching intended to prepare a person for the internal Tantras. Astrology does not answer questions “about meaning” and “Path”. Just like medicineit serves to make it easier for a person to live in this world, which means it is easier to free himself. Both of these sciences are designed to harmonize the cosmos and man.

From the above, it now becomes clear that “facilitating the paths of liberation in life” is served by using the heritage of Taoist-Tibetan teachings. It is to solve these issues that we need to study this science and use the results obtained to choose the appropriate time and conditions, as well as the most correct selection of techniques for harmonizing the inner world with the outer space.

In order to “harmonize the cosmos and man” and answer questions about the meaning of the Path, we will have to turn to the Buddhist-Tibetan part of interpretations and ancient Indian astrology - Jyotish.

In Tibet itself, various astrological systems, fortune telling and rituals are used - collectively called Tsuglang.

For us, only three of them are of interest now:

Natal characteristics – determination of character, psychological characteristics and basic features of life in general.

Previous Life Astrology – it makes it possible to determine the characteristics of Past reincarnations, thereby allowing us to more clearly understand the conditions of this incarnation.

Forecast – prediction of probable event factors affecting a person in any period of time.

In general, it can be mentioned that there are alsoMarriage astrology , Astrology of death (bardo) And Medical astrology .

In practice, these studies realize themselves through the following systems:Kartsy ("white") And Junqi ("elements").

From this it is clear that, first of all, systems are used to understand a person’s place in the world, and, having determined their (man and the world, part and whole) state, to try to bring such parts into a state of harmony with their recommendations. In most cases, this is done usingrituals aimed at removing obstacles, strengthening and harmonizing (pacification) of various principles inside or outside a person. When is the best time to start doing this or that? How to help overcome obstacles and solve problems? In general, the “recipe” will be the same. If the seeker needs more, then here one should turn to the internal Tantras and practices.

When studying ancient sciences, it is important to be able to look at the world through the eyes of the people who created them, in order to be able to look deeper into their inherent system of seeing the world - worldview. Then a real country of thousands of treasures can open to the gaze of the researcher - Eldorado, in the Tibetan tradition - Shambhala. This is the country of Sages and Rishis, transmitting their knowledge to the world in the form of a harmonious and holistic Teaching. For thousands of years, their knowledge has served as a support for various people and civilizations on the path to liberation and realization.

Following the recommendations and explanations of Tibetan astrology, you can answer any question , since this science reflects the entire Universe - as in the “Mirror of Existence”, it is a coherent system of ancient astrological knowledge about the laws of the Universe and methods of bringing Harmony and Freedom into our lives.

Traditionally, the study of astrology begins with an ancient legend about the emergence of time and space, forming "Universal mandal ", symbolized by the so-called "Universal Turtle".

Astrology, medicine, fortune telling, geomancy, painting and many other sciences (both Tibetan and other traditions) rely in their principles on the image of the “Universal Mandala”.

Tibetan a strology, how science can become a Path to knowledge of oneself and the world, become a starting point for specific yogic practices, preserved in the Tibetan tradition, designed to bring consciousness and body into a complete and perfect likeness of the Macrocosm. And thereby awaken the ability to directly perceive both the past and the future, without the help of any complex calculations, calculations, or interpretations.

SCHOOL OF TIBETAN ASTROLOGY "DEWACHEN"

Man – Fate – Universe

=

Matter – Energy – Law

Why does modern man need ancient wisdom, what can our soul draw for its unfoldment?What practical skills and knowledge can a person acquire for a better standard of living?

It is no secret that humanity has accumulated an immense variety of inherently unique different practices. There is also a fairly diverse offer of astrological schools. However, there are significant differences between the Eastern and European traditions. With all due respect to the lofty programs of the stars who chart the course for our life's voyage, the central link is still the person himself. We contain all the stars of the Universe, we carry the Universal Mandala in our hands, and it is with our understanding that we control life processes and karma.
We contain the driving forces of our destiny, our race, our growth and revelation.
Therefore, modern man, with his colossal psychic and mental capabilities, so needs to know the distribution of his individual powers of soul, talent, luck and health. Each of us has our own yidam (tutelary deity) and our own pests. Your white and black stones of fate. How to recognize them? How to use your beneficial powers and tame powerful destruction, how to foresee obstacles for yourself, your loved ones and your affairs.
The answer is nearby - in the palm of your hand!

“Through knowledge of the external world, know your inner essence” is the main commandment of the astrologer. In the palm of your hand, as in a mirror, the whole harmony of the interaction of the Elements is simply and clearly reflected. By activating the action of the primary elements with a ring or mudra, each person can easily direct their healing currents to improve their health and strengthen their luck.

In the Tibetan tradition, there are a huge number of astrological texts, which, due to the complexity of translation and the need for mandatory oral instructions, until recently remained completely inaccessible to Western readers. One of the most important tasks of our institute is the translation of Tibetan astrological texts into Russian, which will allow us to study and preserve a coherent system of ancient astrological knowledge about the laws of the Universe and methods of bringing Harmony and Freedom into our lives. The following information was obtained by us exclusively from Tibetan sources, while translating astrological texts into Russian and receiving oral comments on them from Tibetan astrologers.

The myth of the "Universal Turtle"
Traditionally, the study of astrology begins with the ancient legend about the origin of time and space, forming the “Universal Mandala”, symbolized by the so-called. "Universal turtle." Astrology, medicine, fortune telling, geomancy, painting and many other sciences (both Tibetan and other traditions) rely in their principles on the image of the “Universal Mandala”. The “Universal Mandal” reflects Being in its original, absolutely harmonious state. From the “Universal Mandala” arise the Enlightened beings of the three times and all types of living beings inhabiting the six worlds of samsara. Time, space and consciousness are formed according to the principle of the “Universal Mandala”.

“What is below is like what is above.”
In this article, we will not consider the myth of the “Universal Turtle” in its entirety, but will only present that part of it that relates directly to astrology: “...for the sake of living beings “born to move” on a solid surface and having no place to exist , all the deities prayed. Through the power of prayer, as a support for those “born to move,” the “Great Golden Turtle” - “Master of the Earth” - arose. The “turtle” was embodied incorrectly - with its head to the north and its tail to the south. Therefore, in order for the “primary elements” to show their strength and take the position corresponding to them in space, the “Goddess of the Earth” fired an arrow. The arrow pierced the “Turtle” from east to west, and from the impact the Turtle overturned on its back, with its head to the south and its tail to the north. The hot breath coming from the "Turtle's" mouth gave strength to the fire element in the south.

Blood and other liquids flowed down, allowing the water element in the north to manifest.
The arrowhead came out in the west - this is how the element “iron” showed its power.
The other end of the arrow remained sticking out in the east - this is how the element “tree” appeared.
Lumps of dirt remained on the four paws - thus, the element “earth” appeared in the four intermediate directions of the cardinal points.
From the 28 vertebrae of the “Turtle” 28 constellations arose;
Of the 8 large joints - 8 planets;
Of the 9 body openings - 9 Meva (diagrams);
Of the 8 types of consciousness – 8 Parks (trigrams);
Of the 6 external and 6 internal sources of perception - 6 male and 6 female signs of the 12-year cycle.

Distributed themselves in space and took the appropriate position:

In the east, in the liver of the “Golden Turtle” there is the element “wood”, 6 eastern constellations, the planet Jupiter, Mewa “blue troika”, Parka “Sin”, Tiger and Rabbit.
In the south, in the heart of the “Golden Turtle” there is the element “fire”, 6 southern constellations, the planets Sun and Mars, Mewa “nine red”, Parka “Lee”, Horse and Snake.
In the west, in the lungs of the “Golden Turtle” there is the element “iron”, 6 western constellations, the planet Venus, Meva “seven red”, Parka “Ta”, Garuda and Monkey.
In the north, in the kidneys of the “Golden Turtle” - the element “water”, 6 northern constellations, the planets Moon and Mercury, Mewa “white unit”, Parka “Kham”, Rat and Pig.
The four intermediate directions of the cardinal points correspond to the spleen, the element “earth” and the planet Saturn, while:
In the southeast - one south-east. constellation, Meva "four green", Parka "Dream" and Dragon
In the southwest - one southwest. constellation, Mewa "deuce black", Parka "Khon" and Ram
In the northwest there is one north-west. constellation, Mewa "white six", Parka "Khen" and the Dog
In the northeast there is one north-east. constellation, Mewa "eight white", Parka "Khin" and Elephant.

Mewa "five yellow" is hidden in the belly of the "Golden Turtle", the 8th planet "Dragon" has the qualities of all the "Five Elements" (wood, fire, earth, iron, water), and from the flesh, blood, heat and breath of the "Universal turtles" arose the "Four Great Elements" - "earth", "water", "fire" and "wind" respectively.
On top of the “Universal Turtle” were formed: the ocean, four continents, eight small continents, Mount Meru and all six worlds of samsara...”

Any of the sections of both Tibetan astrology and other sciences is considered from five points of view - these are “external”, “internal”, “secret”, “super secret” and “transcendental” views. Comments on the myth of the “Universal Turtle” can be given separately from the perspective of all five types of views listed above.

"Turtle" is planet Earth.
“Arrow” is a meteorite (in Tib. “star arrow”),
“north changes with south” - a change in the polarity of the Earth due to a meteorite,
“support appears for those born to move on a solid surface” - the appearance of attraction and atmosphere.
