Psalm 26 in modern Russian. Special prayer assistance

In the spiritual environment, there is one tradition of holy ascetics about the prayer rule of calling on God’s special help: “Whoever in the morning before the morning prayers reads the 26th, 50th and 90th psalms, even if the guns fire, nothing will happen to him.”

The writer Sergei Alexandrovich Nilus and his wife Elena Alexandrovna, during a conversation with the Optina elder Father John (Salov), received the following order: “If the enemy shoots his arrows at you, do not be afraid! None of them will affect you, just take my advice as a rule, listen: read in the morning and evening before your prayer both of these psalms - the 26th and the 90th, and before them the great Arkhangelsk joy - “Virgin Mother of God, rejoice.” If you do this, neither the fire will take you, nor the water will drown you... - I’ll tell you more: it won’t tear you apart with a bomb!”
“And the bomb won’t explode!..” Prediction of Fr. John (Salov) was exactly fulfilled during the Civil War. According to the memoirs of M.V. Smirnova-Orlova, Elena Alexandrovna told her that once, when she and her husband were riding in a tarantass under fire, a bomb exploded next to them, but they were not hit at all.

Elder Schema-Archimandrite Vitaly (Sidorenko) (1928-1992) was a pupil of the great elders of the Glinsk Hermitage. He walked the path of life both as a monastic novice, and as a wanderer-fool, and as a hermit monk, finally appearing as a shepherd of many of Christ’s sheep. As a true Christian, he fulfilled the Gospel with his whole life. Father advised in the morning, when leaving the house, to read Psalms 26, 50 and 90, and between them, at the beginning and at the end, one prayer, “Rejoice, Virgin Mary.” After that, he said, if a shell or bullet explodes nearby, or a fire happens, no trouble will touch you. “Read Psalms 26, 50, 90, and the Lord and Mother of God will bestow Their mercies,” said the elder.

The holy righteous Theodore Ushakov, admiral of the Russian Fleet, glorified by the Church as a saint, fought 40 major naval battles and did not suffer a single defeat, did not lose a single ship, and not a single sailor was captured. His ships bore the names of saints and Orthodox holidays. Sailors loved him. The admiral’s main parting words before the battle were: “Brothers, read Psalms 26, 50 and 90, and neither a bullet nor a saber will take you!” [Magazine “Sofia. Wisdom of God" No. 3 2008, p. 52] All the warriors of St. right Theodore Ushakov read the 26th, 50th, 90th psalms and “Let God rise again...” before the battle. These psalms and prayer were their shield from physical danger.

Based on the experience of life and the Church, this rule is supplemented here with some more short prayers, through which the special intercession of God was also revealed.

The Orthodox ascetic and confessor of the 20th century, Schema-nun Nila (Evdokia Andreevna Kolesnikova, 1902-1999), at the age of 12, went to a monastery, where at the age of 18 she was tonsured with the name Euphrosyne. After the destruction of the monastery in Soviet times, it survived the horrors of the stages and camps for 14 years. After being released in the post-war years, she lived in Tula, and then in the Moscow region. In the 1960s she adopted the schema with the name Nila. The Lord endowed her with grace-filled gifts: insight, prophecy, healing. From all over Russia people came to the gracious old woman, receiving spiritual help, consolation, and healing from illnesses.
Schema nun Nila was given the ability to deeply see the souls of people, revealing all their thoughts and heartfelt experiences, even those who were far from her.
She instructed her spiritual child: “When you leave the house, get behind the wheel, get out of the car, be sure to read the prayer: “Lord, grant me the seal of the gift of the Holy Spirit on all my paths and roads. Amen". This prayer should be with you all your life.”
Mother Nila believed that one must pray constantly - at work, on vacation, and in transport:
– Work is in the hands, and prayer is in the lips. Prayer first of all, daughters!
She spoke about the meaning of prayer like this:
– The world is held together by prayer. If prayer stops for even one hour, the world will cease to exist. And night prayer is especially needed; it pleases God more than others. The greatest and most difficult feat is to pray for people. You need to endure, pray, work, no matter what, no matter how much you scold or revile. There is reproach on the left, from the evil one, and sometimes on the right, from loved ones. Both are difficult, but useful and even necessary. It is not external labors that are needed, but purification of the heart. Don't allow yourself any deceit, be open with people. And don't think bad about yourself.

SPECIAL PRAYER HELP

Archangel greeting to the Mother of God:

Psalm 26:

“The Lord is my enlightenment and my Savior, of whom will I fear? The Lord, the Protector of my life, of whom will I be afraid?
Sometimes those who are angry come close to me, and destroy my flesh; those who insult me and defeat me become exhausted and fall. Even if a regiment takes up arms against me, my heart will not fear, even if it rises up against me to fight, I will trust in Him. I have asked one thing from the Lord, and this I will require: that I may live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, that I may behold the beauty of the Lord, and that I may visit His holy temple. For He hid me in His village in the day of my evil, for He covered me in the secret of His village, and lifted me up on a stone. And now, behold, you have lifted up my head against my enemies: I have died and devoured in His village a sacrifice of praise and shouting, I will sing and sing praises to the Lord. Hear, O Lord, my voice in which I cried, have mercy on me and hear me. My heart says to You, I will seek the Lord, I will seek Your face, O Lord, I will seek Your face. Do not turn Your face away from me and do not turn aside in anger from Your servant: be my helper, do not reject me and do not forsake me, O God, my Savior. For my father and mother have abandoned me, but the Lord will receive me. Give me the law, O Lord, in Thy way, and guide me on the right path for my enemy’s sake. Do not betray me into the souls of those who are afflicted by me, as if I stood up as a witness to unrighteousness, and lied untruthfully to myself. I believe in seeing the good of the Lord on the land of the living. Be patient with the Lord, be of good courage, and let your heart be strong, and be patient with the Lord.”

"Virgin Mother of God, Rejoice, O Blessed Mary, the Lord is with Thee; blessed art Thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, for Thou hast given birth to the Savior of our souls."

Psalm 50:

“Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and according to the multitude of Your compassions, cleanse my iniquity. Above all, wash me from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin; for I know my iniquity, and I will take away my sin before me. To You alone I have committed sins and evil before You, so that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome the eternal judgment of You. Behold, in iniquities I was conceived, and in sins I gave birth to my mother. Behold, You loved the truth; You showed me the unknown and secret wisdom of Yours. Thou art. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be clean, wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Give joy and gladness to my hearing; humble bones will rejoice. Turn away Your face from my sins and cleanse all my iniquities. Create in me, O God, a pure heart and spirit renew my rights in my womb. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Reward me with the joy of Your salvation and strengthen me with the Master Spirit. I will teach the lawless in Your way, and the evildoers will turn to You. Deliver me from bloodshed, O God, O God of my salvation, my tongue will rejoice in Your righteousness. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will declare Your praise. As if you had desired sacrifices, you would have given them: you do not favor burnt offerings. The sacrifice to God is a broken spirit; God will not despise a broken and humble heart. Bless Zion, O Lord, with Your favor, and may the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then favor the sacrifice of righteousness, the offering and the burnt offering; Then they will lay the bullocks on Your altar.”

"Virgin Mother of God, Rejoice, O Blessed Mary, the Lord is with Thee; blessed art Thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, for Thou hast given birth to the Savior of our souls."

Psalm 90:

“He who lives in the help of the Most High will dwell in the shelter of the Heavenly God. Says the Lord: Thou art my intercessor and my refuge, my God, and I trust in Him. You hope in His wing that His truth will surround you with weapons. Do not fear from the fear of the night, from the arrow that flies in the days, from the thing that passes in darkness, from the cloak, and from the demon of the midday. Thousands will fall from your country, and the darkness is at your right hand, but not to you. will draw near, but look into your eyes, and see the reward of sinners. For you, Lord, are my hope, you have set your refuge on the Most High. Evil will not come to you, and no wound will come close to your body, as His Angel commanded you about you, keep you in all your paths. They will take you up in their arms, but not when you dash your foot on a stone, tread on the asp and the basilisk, and cross the lion and the serpent. For he trusted in Me, and I will deliver, and: I will cover, and because he has known My name. He will call to Me, and I will hear him: I am with him in sorrow, I will destroy him, and I will glorify him, I will fill him with long days, and I will show him My salvation.”

"Virgin Mother of God, Rejoice, O Blessed Mary, the Lord is with Thee; blessed art Thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, for Thou hast given birth to the Savior of our souls."

Theotokos Psalm 90:

“He who lives in the help of the Mother of God will settle under Her strong roof; the enemy of hell will not harm him, and his flying arrow will not touch him, as the mighty Lady will deliver him from the net of the catcher, and will cover him with Her wings. Cry out to Her, all of you in your troubles, and no harmful wound will come near your souls and bodies: for He will show you His salvation everywhere.”

"Virgin Mother of God, Rejoice, O Blessed Mary, the Lord is with Thee; blessed art Thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, for Thou hast given birth to the Savior of our souls."

Psalm 120:

“I have lifted up my eyes to the mountains, from nowhere will my help come. My help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Do not let your feet fall into confusion; below shall He slumber, He who guards you; here He will not slumber, below shall He who guard Israel fall asleep. The Lord will protect you, the Lord is your protection. on your right hand. The sun will not burn you during the days, nor the moon at night. The Lord will protect you from all evil; the Lord will preserve your soul. The Lord will preserve your coming in and your going out, from now on and forever.”

"Virgin Mother of God, Rejoice, O Blessed Mary, the Lord is with Thee; blessed art Thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, for Thou hast given birth to the Savior of our souls."

Mark yourself with a cross and say a prayer to the Honest Cross:

“May God rise again, and let His enemies be scattered, and let those who hate Him flee from His face. As smoke disappears, let them disappear; as wax melts in the presence of fire, so let demons perish from the face of those who love God and signify themselves with the sign of the cross, and who speak with joy : Rejoice, Most Honest and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, drive away the demons by force on you of our Lord Jesus Christ, who descended into hell and trampled the power of the devil, and who gave us His Honorable Cross to drive away every adversary. Oh, Most Honorable and Life-giving Cross of the Lord! Help us with the Holy Lady Virgin Mary and with all the saints forever. Amen."

“The Cross of Christ, sanctified for the whole world by the grace and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, is given to us - a weapon against all our enemies, visible and invisible, in the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

“May all opposing forces be crushed under the sign of the image of Your Cross, O Lord.” (Read three times)

"For God is with us!" (three times)

“Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death and giving life to those in the tombs!” (three times)

“Lord, grant me the seal of the gift of the Holy Spirit on all my ways and roads. Amen".

“Glory to Thee, God, for everything forever!”

Interpretation of Psalm 26

In the Septuagint and Vulgate this psalm is preceded by the inscription: "Until the anointing." Also, a number of internal evidence in the text speaks in favor of the fact that the psalm was written before David’s anointing as king and, therefore, most likely during the years of his persecution by Saul.

Ps. 26:1 Here we see an expression of faith, strong and sincere, freeing the believer from the fear of earthly disasters. Salvation is in the Lord; He is the strong foundation of life.

Ps. 26:2-3 David portrays Saul's frenzied anger against him as a desire to devour his flesh. But David's enemies, hunting for him, will stumble and fall. David hopes and believes that even a whole regiment of enemies will not defeat him, because the Lord is on his side.

Ps. 26:4 David's love for the Lord is so high and deep that his main desire is to remain in the house of the Lord all the days of his life, that is, to have constant access to it in order to enjoy the spiritual beauty of worship (contemplate the beauty of the Lord). The "temple" in this verse refers to the tabernacle.

Ps. 26:5-6 In the day of trouble, David would have found complete safety in the sanctuary (the secret place of God's habitation), because in the tabernacle his enemies could not capture or kill him. “He would lift me up on a rock” is an expression of hope that the Lord will not leave His chosen one in the humiliating position of a persecuted one, but will glorify and establish him (verse 5). The same idea is continued in verse 6 with the promise of praise and joyful singing in honor of the Lord.

Ps. 26:7-10 Confident of the Lord's help, David nevertheless intensifies his prayerful appeal to Him (verse 7); he understands that the desire to draw closer to the Lord (to seek His face) is placed in his heart by the Lord Himself (verse 8). And so David asks Him again and again, so that He does not turn away His face in anger (which David may accidentally arouse in Him), so that He does not reject and forsake His servant (verse 9). verse 10 can be seen as one of the internal evidences that Psalm 26 was written by David before his coronation as king. He says here that his father and mother abandoned him, implying perhaps that his loved ones were afraid to show their love for him because King Saul hated and persecuted him. But abandoned by them, David hopes that he will not be abandoned by the Lord.

Ps. 26:11-14 The sincere, heartfelt prayer of the psalmist reaches its climax here. He asks the Lord for purity and righteousness, because his enemies are tempting him with their malice. But they will not be able to push him off the “path of righteousness”, to force him to commit a crime (verse 11). In verses 12-14, David’s prayer is that the Lord protect him from the tyranny of deceitful and evil enemies (verse 12).

Verse 13 expresses the belief that the heavenly Protector will make David fully experience His goodness in the land of the living and will not allow his death (descent to Sheol, “the land of the dead”).

In verse 14, the psalmist calls both himself and others to hope in the Lord, to be strengthened in Him.

KATHISMA 4

Psalm 26 Psalm 26
Psalm of David. Before the anointing.
1 The Lord is my enlightenment and my Savior, whom will I fear? Lord, Protector of my life, from whom shall I fear? 1 The Lord is my light and my salvation: whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life: whom shall I fear?
2 Sometimes you come close to me with malice, even if you take away my flesh, insulting me, and defeating me, you become weak and fall. 2 If evildoers, my adversaries, and my enemies come against me to devour my flesh, they themselves will stumble and fall.
3 Even if an army besieges itself against me, my heart will not fear; if it rises up to fight against me, I will trust in Him. 3 If an army takes up arms against me, my heart will not fear; if war arises against me, then I will trust in Him.
4 I have asked one thing of the Lord, and this I will require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, that I may behold the beauty of the Lord, and that I may visit His holy temple. 4 One thing have I asked of the Lord, this only do I seek, that I may abide in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to contemplate the beauty of the Lord, and to visit His holy temple,
5 Because He hid me in His village in the day of my evil, He covered me in the secret of His village, He lifted me up on a rock. 5 For He would have hidden me in His tabernacle in the day of trouble, He would have hidden me in the secret place of His habitation, He would have lifted me up on the rock.
6 And now, behold, I have lifted up my head against my enemies: I have died and devoured in His village a sacrifice of praise and shouting, I will sing and sing praises to the Lord.

6 Then my head would be lifted up above the enemies around me; and I would offer sacrifices of praise in His tabernacle, and would begin to sing and make melody before the Lord.

7 Hear, O Lord, my voice, whereby I cried: have mercy on me, and hear me.
8 My heart says unto you, I will seek the Lord. I will seek Your face, O Lord, I will seek Your face.

8 My heart says from You: seek My face; and I will seek Your face, O Lord.

9 Turn not Thy face away from me, nor turn away Thy servant with wrath: be my helper, do not deny me, nor forsake me, O God of my Savior.

9 Hide not Your face from me; do not reject Your servant in anger. You were my helper; do not reject me and do not forsake me, O God, my Savior!

10 Because my father and my mother abandoned me, but the Lord will receive me.

10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will receive me.

11 Give me the law, O Lord, in Thy way, and guide me in the right path for my enemy’s sake.

11 Teach me, O Lord, your way, and guide me in the path of righteousness, for the sake of my enemies;

12 Do not betray me to the souls of those who afflict me, for I have stood up as a witness of unrighteousness and lied untruthfully to myself.

12 Do not deliver me up to the mercy of my enemies, for false witnesses have risen up against me and breathe out malice.

13 I believe to see the good of the Lord on the land of the living.

13 But I believe that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

14 Be patient with the Lord, be of good courage and let your heart be strong, and be patient with the Lord.

14 Trust in the Lord, be of good courage, and let your heart be strengthened, and trust in the Lord.

HOW PSALM 26 WAS WRITTEN AND WHAT IT MEANS

« Psalm to David, before the anointing“- the prophet David received several anointings in his life.
The first was done by the prophet Samuel when David was still little and tending flocks.
The second, solemn, at the accession to the kingdom after the death of Saul, and to control the tribes of Judah and Benjamin.
The third anointing was performed to govern the Jewish people, all 12 of them.
This psalm speaks of the second anointing, when David, with the death of King Saul, was finally delivered from persecution from him. Prophet David was repeatedly attacked by enemies, but he knew who his Protector was and to whom he owed his salvation. In the verses of this psalm, he expresses his faith and hope in God - his powerful Patron and Defender.

EXPLANATION AND BRIEF INTERPRETATION OF PSALM 27

Ps.26:1 The Lord is my enlightenment and my Savior, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the Protector of my life, from whom shall I fear?
The Lord is my light and my salvation: whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life: whom shall I fear?
During the persecution by Saul, David was literally on the verge of death more than once, but every time the mercy of God and His help appeared to vice, thereby increasingly strengthening him in faith. Therefore, in the first verse of the psalm, David proclaims that there is no point in him being afraid of anything - after all, the Lord Himself is his Savior and Protector.

Ps.26:2 Sometimes those who are angry approach me and destroy my flesh; those who insult me and defeat me become exhausted and fall.
If evildoers, my adversaries and enemies come upon me to devour my flesh, then they themselves will stumble and fall.
David was repeatedly in such situations when his enemies practically overtook him, but every time it was as if something was stopping them from seizing the prophet and putting him to death. Either his pursuers did not recognize him and he freely left them, or they themselves died. And one day it happened that David’s small detachment was soon to be destroyed by Saul’s soldiers who were catching up with him, but at that moment they received news of an attack on their lands by a powerful enemy and were forced to stop the pursuit and go to war.
Therefore, a person who is under the protection of the Lord Himself knows the answer to the question: who should I fear, when I am sure that the Lord, my Enlightenment, and my Savior, and the Protector of my life, is always with me and with me?

Ps.26:3 Even if a regiment turns against me, my heart will not fear; Even if he fights against me, I will trust in Him.
If a regiment takes up arms against me, my heart will not fear; if war arises against me, then I will hope in Him, but I will not have fear.

Ps.26:4 I have asked one thing of the Lord, this I will require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, that I may behold the beauty of the Lord, and that I may visit His holy Temple.
I asked one thing from the Lord, that only I seek, that I might abide in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, contemplate the beauty of the Lord and visit His holy temple.
While in exile, David, although separated from his family, first of all, he complains that he cannot be in the Temple of the Lord and admire its beauty.
The beauty of the Lord, translated from Greek, also means joy from the Lord, from His love and consolation. This is a high feeling and it is always in the heart. For true believers, losing this feeling is real fear.

Ps.26:5 For He hid me in His village in the day of my evil, for He covered me in the secret of His village, and lifted me up on a stone.
For He would have hidden me in His tabernacle in the day of trouble, He would have hidden me in the secret place of His habitation, He would have lifted me up on the rock.
The Lord shelters all who love Him from troubles and evil in the secret of His village, those. in a place where there is no trouble, evil, in places that are inaccessible to enemies, where neither they themselves can reach nor their arrows, which can cause pain, do not reach ( lift me up on a stone).

Ps.26:6 And now, behold, you have lifted up my head against my enemies: the sacrifice of praise and shouting has been wasted and devoured in His village: I will sing and make praise to the Lord.
Then my head would be lifted above the enemies surrounding me; and I would offer sacrifices of praise in His tabernacle, and would begin to sing and make melody before the Lord.
David, although he was in exile. but he, as a prophet, knew that the time would come when the Lord would help defeat his enemies and then he would glorify God. Therefore, this verse is written in the past tense, as an already accomplished fact.

Ps.26:7 Hear, O Lord, my voice in which I cried, have mercy on me and hear me.
Hear, O Lord, my voice with which I cry, have mercy on me and listen to me.
Before this, David poured out to us his feelings for God, and starting from verse 7, the prophet prays to the Lord for the mercy of help.

Ps.26:8 My heart says to you: I will seek the Lord, I will seek your face, O Lord, I will seek your face.
My heart speaks from You: seek My face; and I will seek Your face, O Lord.
God, if He exists in a person, is in the heart, therefore we must preserve this love and protect our heart for this love, driving away lies, evil and attachment to earthly things.

Ps.26:9 Turn not Thy face away from me, nor turn away Thy servant in anger: be my helper, do not cast me away, nor forsake me, O God, my Savior.
Hide not Your face from me; do not reject Your servant in anger. You were my helper; do not reject me and do not forsake me, O God, my Savior!

Ps.26:10 For my father and mother have abandoned me, but the Lord will receive me.
For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will receive me.
In exile, David was in the land of the Philistines, far from his family, so he compares his situation to a lost child who has no parents. But at the same time, he says that he was not left alone - the Lord accepted him.

Ps.26:11 Give me the law, O Lord, in Thy way, and guide me on the right path for my enemy’s sake.
Teach me, O Lord, Your way and guide me on the path of righteousness, for the sake of my enemies.
Due to the fact that on the path to salvation there are many enemies (visible and invisible, but primarily internal), the prophet asks for the help of the Lord, so that He would teach him the laws of God and strengthen him with His grace because every person walking along the righteous path, various dangers and temptations await.

Ps.26:12 Do not betray me into the souls of those who are afflicted by me: for I have stood up as a witness of unrighteousness, and lied untruthfully to myself.
Do not hand me over to the mercy of my enemies, for false witnesses have risen up against me and are breathing malice.
The prophet’s enemies slandered him and spread false rumors about him, so David calls them “unrighteous witnesses,” but in the end this lie turned on the attackers themselves ( lying to yourself).

Ps.26:13 I believe in seeing the good of the Lord on the land of the living
But I believe that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Although David's enemies caused a lot of evil and grief, he did not become bitter against the world, he believes in God, in His gifts and mercy ( good of the Lord) not only in this world, but also in the Heavenly Kingdom.

Ps.26:14 Be patient with the Lord, be of good courage, and let your heart be strong, and be patient with the Lord.
Trust in the Lord, be of good courage, and let your heart be strengthened, and trust in the Lord.
The Prophet calls not to despair, but with patience, courage and hope in the Lord ( be patient with the Lord), expect a solution to your troubles and then a happy life will come.

Teaching of Asaph.

2 I will open my mouth in a parable and speak fortune telling from ancient times.

3 What we have heard and known, and our fathers told us,

4 We will not hide from their children, proclaiming to the generation to come the glory of the Lord, and His power, and His wonders which He has done.

5 He established a statute in Jacob and laid down a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to tell their children,

6 so that the coming generation, the children who will be born, may know, and so that they may tell their children in due time -

7 Place your hope in God and do not forget the works of God and keep His commandments,

8 And not to be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, unsettled in heart and unfaithful to God in their spirit.

9 The sons of Ephraim, armed and shooting with bows, turned back on the day of battle:

10 They did not keep the covenant of God and denied walking in His law;

11 They forgot His works and the wonders that He showed them.

12 He performed miracles in the sight of their fathers in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan:

13 He divided the sea, and led them through it, and made the waters a wall;

14 And he led them by a cloud during the day, and by the light of fire all night;

15 He cut the stone in the wilderness and gave them drink as from the great abyss;

16 He brought streams out of the rock, and the waters flowed out like rivers.

17 But they continued to sin against Him and provoke the Most High in the wilderness:

18 They tempted God in their hearts, demanding food for their souls,

19 And they spoke against God and said, “Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?”

20 Behold, He struck the stone, and waters flowed out and streams flowed. “Can He also give bread and prepare meat for His people?”

21 The Lord heard and was kindled with wrath, and fire was kindled against Jacob, and wrath was aroused against Israel

22 because they did not believe in God and did not trust in His salvation.

23 He commanded the clouds from above and opened the doors of heaven,

24 And he rained manna upon them for food, and gave them the bread of heaven.

25 The man ate the angel's bread; He sent them food until they were full.

26 He stirred up the east wind in the sky and brought down the south wind with His power

27 And it rained upon them flesh like dust, and feathered birds like the sand of the sea:

28 He cast them down in the midst of their camp, near their dwellings,

29 And they ate and were satisfied; and gave them what they desired.

30 But their desire had not yet passed, food was still in their mouth,

31 The wrath of God came upon them, slew their fat men, and cast down the young men of Israel.

32 Despite all this, they continued to sin and did not believe His miracles.

33 And he destroyed their days in vanity and their years in confusion.

34 When He killed them, they sought Him and were converted, and from early in the morning they ran to God,

35 And they remembered that God is their refuge, and God Most High is their Deliverer,

36 And they flattered Him with their lips and lied to Him with their tongues;

37 But their heart was not right with Him, and they were not faithful to His covenant.

38 But He, the Merciful, forgave sin and did not destroy them, turned away His anger many times and did not arouse all His wrath:

39 He remembered that they are flesh, breath that goes away and does not return.

40 How many times did they provoke Him to anger in the wilderness and anger Him in country uninhabited!

41 And again they tempted God and insulted the Holy One of Israel,

42 They did not remember His hand, the day when He delivered them from oppression,

43 when He performed His signs in Egypt and His wonders in the field of Zoan;

44 And he turned their rivers and their streams into blood, so that they could not drink;

45 He sent insects against them to bite them, and toads to destroy them;

46 He gave their earthly growths to the caterpillar and their labor to the locusts;

47 Their grapes were beaten with hail, and their sycamores with ice;

48 Their cattle were given over to hail, and their flocks to lightning;

49 He sent upon them the flame of His wrath, and indignation, and wrath, and disaster, an embassy of evil angels;

50 He made the path equal to His wrath; He did not protect their souls from death, but gave their cattle over to the plague;

51 He smote every firstborn in Egypt, the firstfruits of strength in the tents of Ham;

52 And he led his people like sheep, and led them like flocks through the wilderness;

53 He led them safely, and they were not afraid, but the sea covered their enemies;

54 And he brought them into his holy region, to this mountain, which his right hand had acquired;

55 He drove out the nations from before them and divided their land as an inheritance for them, and settled the tribes of Israel in their tents.

56 But they still tempted and grieved the Most High God, and did not keep His statutes;

57 they retreated and changed, like their fathers, they turned back like a faithless bow;

58 They grieved Him with their high places and aroused His jealousy with their idols.

59 God heard and was inflamed with anger and was greatly indignant against Israel;

60 He cast aside the habitation of Shiloh, the tabernacle in which He dwelt among men;

61 and gave His strength captive and His glory into the hands of the enemy,

62 And he put his people to the sword, and was angry at his inheritance.

63 Fire consumed his young men, and they did not sing marriage songs to his maidens;

64 His priests fell by the sword, and his widows did not weep.

65 But the Lord arose as if from sleep, like a giant overcome by wine,

66 And he struck his enemies in the rear, giving them over to eternal shame;

67 And he rejected the tent of Joseph, and did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,

68 But he chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loved.

69 And he built his sanctuary like heaven, and established it forever, like the earth,

70 And he chose David his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds

71 And from the milking men he brought him to feed his people Jacob, and his inheritance Israel.

72 And he shepherded them in the purity of his heart and led them with wise hands.

Psalm 78

Psalm of Asaph.

1 God! the pagans have come into Your inheritance, they have desecrated Your holy temple, they have turned Jerusalem into ruins;

2 They gave the corpses of Your servants to be eaten by the birds of the air, and the bodies of Your saints to the beasts of the earth;

3 They shed their blood like water around Jerusalem, and there was no one to bury them.

4 We have become a laughing stock among our neighbors, a reproach and a disgrace to those around us.

5 How long, O Lord, will you be angry forever, will your jealousy burn like fire?

6 Pour out Your wrath on the nations that do not know You, and on the kingdoms that do not call on Your name,

7 For they devoured Jacob and made his habitation desolate.

8 Remember not our sins our ancestors; May Your mercies soon precede us, for we are very exhausted.

9 Help us, O God our Savior, for the glory of Your name; deliver us and forgive us our sins for Thy name's sake.

10 Why should the Gentiles say, “Where is their God?” May the vengeance for the shed blood of Your servants become known among the pagans before our eyes.

11 Let the groaning of the prisoner come before You; By the might of Your arm save those doomed to death.

12 Restore to our neighbors seven times into their bosom the reproach with which they reproached You, O Lord.

13 But we, Your people and the sheep of Your pasture, will praise You forever and proclaim Your praise to generation and generation.

Psalm 79

1 To the head of the choir. On the musical guns Shoshannim-Eduf. Psalm of Asaph.

2 Shepherd of Israel! listen; leading Joseph like sheep, sitting on cherubim, reveal Yourself.

3 Rise up Your power before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, and come to save us.

4 God! restore us; May Your face shine and we will be saved!

5 O Lord, God of hosts! How long will you be angry at the prayers of your people?

6 You fed them with the bread of tears, and made them drink tears in abundance,

7 He has made us a quarrel with our neighbors, and our enemies mock above us.

8 God of strength! restore us; May Your face shine and we will be saved!

9 You brought the vine out of Egypt, drove out the nations and planted it;

10 He cleared a place for it, and established its roots, and it filled the earth.

11 The mountains were covered with its shadow, and its branches were like the cedars of God;

12 She sent out her branches to the sea and her branches to the river.

13 Why have you broken down its walls, so that all who pass along the way tear it down?

14 The boar of the forest tears it down, and the beast of the field devours it.

15 God of strength! turn, look down from heaven, and behold, and visit these grapes;

16 Guard what Your right hand has planted, and the branches which You have strengthened for Yourself.

17 He was burned with fire, he was cut off; They will perish from the rebuke of Your face.

18 Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, upon the son of man whom You have strengthened for Yourself,

19 And we will not depart from You; quicken us, and we will call upon your name.

20 O Lord, God of hosts! restore us; May Your face shine and we will be saved!

Psalm 80

1 To the head of the choir. On the gun of Gath. Psalm of Asaph.

2 Sing joyfully to God, our rock; shout to the God of Jacob;

3 Take a psalm, give a tympanum, a sweet-sounding harp with a psalter;

4 Blow the trumpet at the new moon, at the appointed time, on the day of our feast;

5 For this is a law for Israel, a statute of the God of Jacob.

6 He established this as a testimony to Joseph when he came out of the land of Egypt, where he heard the sounds of a language that he did not know:

7 “I took his weights off his shoulders, and his hands were freed from the baskets.

8 In trouble you called on Me, and I delivered you; out of the midst of the thunder I heard you; by the waters of Meribah I tested you.

9 Hear, My people, and I will testify to you: Israel! Oh, if only you had listened to Me!

10 Thou shalt have no other god, and thou shalt not worship a foreign god.

11 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt; open your mouth, and I will fill it."

12 But my people did not hearken to my voice, and Israel did not obey me;

13 Therefore I have left them to the stubbornness of their hearts, that they may walk according to their own thoughts.

14 Oh that My people would listen to Me, and that Israel would walk in My ways!

15 I would quickly subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their oppressors:

16 Those who hated the Lord would subjugate them, and their prosperity would continue forever;

17 I would feed them with the fatness of wheat and satisfy them with honey from the rock.

Glory:

Psalm 81

Psalm of Asaph.

1 God became in the company of gods; among the gods pronounced judgment:

2 How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked?

3 Give justice to the poor and the fatherless; Give justice to the oppressed and the poor;

4 Deliver the poor and needy; purge his from the hand of the wicked.

5 They do not know, they do not understand, they walk in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaking.

6 I said: you are gods, and you are all sons of the Most High;

7 But you will die like men and fall like any prince.

8 Arise, O God, judge the earth, for you will inherit all nations.

Psalm 82

1 Song. Psalm of Asaph.

2 God! Don't be silent, don't be silent and don't remain quiet, God,

3 For behold, Your enemies make a noise, and those who hate You have lifted up their heads;

4 They have plotted evil against Your people and are taking counsel against those whom You keep;

5 They said, “Let us go and destroy them from among the nations, so that the name of Israel will be remembered no more.”

6 They conspired with one accord and made a covenant against You:

7 the villages of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagarites,

8 Ebal and Ammon and Amalek, the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tire.

9 And Asshur came to them: they became a muscle for the sons of Lot.

10 Do to them as you did to Midian, as to Sisera, as to Jabin by the brook Kishon,

11 Which were destroyed in Endor, and became dung for the earth.

12 Deal with them, with their princes, as with Oreb and Zib, and with all their leaders, as with Zebah and Zalman,

13 who said, “Let us take possession of the villages of God.”

14 My God! Let them be like dust in a whirlwind, like straw before the wind.

15 As fire burns the forest, and as flame scorches the mountains,

16 So chase them with Your storm and throw them into confusion with Your whirlwind;

17 Fill their faces with dishonor, so that they may seek Your name, O Lord!

18 Let them be ashamed and dismayed forever, let them be ashamed and perish,

19 And let them know that You, whose only name is Lord, are the Most High over all the earth.

Psalm 83

1 To the head of the choir. On Gefsky guns. Korean sons. Psalm.

2 How desirable are Your dwellings, O Lord of hosts!

3 My soul is weary, longing for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh delight in the living God.

4 And the bird finds a home for itself, and a swallow finds a nest for itself, where to lay its chicks, at Your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God!

5 Blessed are they that dwell in Thy house: they shall praise Thee continually.

6 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You and whose heart has paths directed to you.

7 Passing through the valley of mourning, they open springs in it, and rain covers it with blessing;

8 They come from strength to strength, appearing before God in Zion.

9 O Lord, God of hosts! Hear my prayer, give ear, O God of Jacob!

10 God, our protector! Come close and behold the face of Your anointed.

11 For one day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be at the threshold of the house of God than to live in the tents of wickedness.

12 For the Lord God is the sun and the shield, the Lord gives grace and glory; He does not deprive those who walk in integrity of blessings.

13 Lord of hosts! Blessed is the man who trusts in You!

Psalm 84

1 To the head of the choir. Korean sons. Psalm.

2 Lord! You have had mercy on Your land, You have returned the captivity of Jacob;

3 You have forgiven the iniquity of your people, you have covered all their sins,

4 I have taken away all Your wrath, I have turned away the fierceness of Your anger.

5 Restore us, O God of our salvation, and end Your wrath against us.

6 Will you be angry with us forever, will you spread out your wrath from generation to generation?

7 Will You not revive us again, so that Your people may rejoice in You?

8 Show us, O Lord, Thy mercy, and grant us Thy salvation.

9 I will listen to what the Lord God says. He will speak peace to His people and His chosen ones, but let them not fall into folly again.

10 So His salvation is near to those who fear Him, so that glory may dwell in our land!

11 Mercy and truth meet, righteousness and peace kiss each other;

12 truth will arise from the earth, and righteousness will come from heaven;

13 And the Lord will give good, and our land will yield its fruit;

14 righteousness will go before Him and set its steps in the way.

In the modern world, wars still do not stop, and when we need to protect ourselves or our home from danger, we turn to the saints and ask for their protection and blessings. The prayers of Schema-Archimandrite Vitaly have particular power in this regard, and the very life of this elder is an example of humble service to the Lord.

The story of Saint Vitaly

Schema-Archimandrite Vitaly (in the world Sidorenko) was born on May 5, 1928 into a poor peasant family. He was close to God from an early age and was considered a man not of this world. A pupil of the elders from the Glinsk Hermitage, he became a wanderer and a monk. Persecution and adversity did not break him, but, on the contrary, gave his prayers extraordinary strength. During his lifetime, the elder was humble and meek, distinguished by his high spirituality and the gift of healing the mentally ill. He prayed both for his children and for his enemies, begging the Almighty for relief from their fate.

How do the prayers of Schema-Archimandrite Vitaly help?

Schema-Archimandrite Vitaly spent the last years of his life serving in the Tbilisi church. He died at 64 years old.

To offer prayers to Vitaly Sidorenko, believers continue to flock to his grave to this day.

To the prayers of St. Vitaly is contacted in the following cases:

  • in case of life-threatening danger;
  • asking for the blessing of the house.

Rule read in danger

During the armed conflict in Tbilisi, Schema-Archimandrite Vitaly told his spiritual children about a special rule that protected them from danger. He gave them the following advice: “Read Psalms 26, 50, 90, and the Lord and the Mother of God will bestow Their mercies.” Between the psalms, one should read “Rejoice to the Virgin Mary” one more time. The elder’s spiritual children claim that whoever read such a prayer when leaving the house was not afraid of either shells or bullets.

Virgin Mary, Rejoice, O Blessed Mary, the Lord is with You; Blessed are You among women and blessed is the fruit of Your womb, for You have given birth to the Savior of our souls.

Psalm 26

The Lord is my enlightenment and my Savior, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the Protector of my life, from whom shall I fear? Sometimes those who are angry approach me and destroy my flesh; those who insult me and defeat me become exhausted and fall. Even if a regiment turns against me, my heart will not fear; Even if he fights against me, I will trust in Him. And now, behold, you have lifted up my head against my enemies: the waste and devouring in the village of His sacrifice of praise and exclamation; I will sing and make praise to the Lord. Hear, O Lord, my voice in which I cried, have mercy on me and hear me. My heart says to you: I will seek the Lord, I will seek your face, O Lord, I will seek your face. Do not turn Your face away from me and do not turn aside in anger from Your servant: be my helper, do not reject me and do not forsake me. God, my Savior. As my father and mother abandoned me. The Lord will accept me. Give me the law, O Lord, in Thy way, and guide me on the right path for my enemy’s sake. Do not betray me into the souls of those who are afflicted by me: for I have stood up as a witness of unrighteousness, and lied untruthfully to myself. I believe in seeing the good of the Lord on the land of the living. Be patient with the Lord, be of good courage, and let your heart be strong, and be patient with the Lord.

Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and according to the multitude of Your mercies, cleanse my iniquity. Above all, wash me from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin; for I know my iniquity, and I will take away my sin before me. I have sinned against You alone and have done evil before You, so that You may be justified in Your words and triumph over the judgment of You. Behold, I was conceived in iniquities, and my mother gave birth to me in sins. Behold, you have loved the truth; You have revealed to me the unknown and secret wisdom of Yours. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. My hearing brings joy and joy; humble bones will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and cleanse all my iniquities. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit away from me. Reward me with the joy of Your salvation and strengthen me with the Lord’s Spirit. I will teach the wicked Your way, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from bloodshed, O God, God of my salvation; My tongue will rejoice in Your righteousness. Then favor the sacrifice of righteousness, the offering and the burnt offering; Then they will place the bullock on Your altar.

Psalm 90

Living in the help of the Most High, he will settle in the shelter of the Heavenly God. Says the Lord: Thou art my Protector and my Refuge, my God, and I trust in Him. For He will deliver you from the snare of the trap and from rebellious words, His blanket will overshadow you, and under His wing you hope: His truth will surround you with weapons. Do not be afraid from the fear of the night, from the arrow that flies during the day, from the thing that passes in darkness, from the cloak, and from the demon of the midday. Thousands will fall from your country, and darkness will fall at your right hand, but it will not come close to you, otherwise look at your eyes and see the reward of sinners. For You, O Lord, are my hope, You have made the Most High your refuge. Evil will not come to you, and wound will not approach your body, as His Angel commanded you to keep you in all your ways. They will lift you up in their arms, but when you dash your foot against a stone, you will step on an asp and a basilisk and cross a lion and a serpent. For I have trusted in Me, and I will deliver, and I will cover, and because I have known My name. He will call to Me, and I will hear him: I am with him in sorrow, I will take him away and glorify him, I will fulfill him with the length of days and show him My salvation.

Prayer to Archangel Barachiel

Oh, great archangel of God, Archangel Barachiel! Standing before the Throne of God and from there bringing the blessing of God into the homes of God’s faithful servants, ask the Lord God for mercy and blessings on our homes, may the Lord God bless us from Zion and from His Holy Mountain and increase the abundance of the fruits of the earth and give us health and salvation and good haste in everything, victory and victory against our enemies and will preserve us for many years, so that with one accord we glorify God, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer for blessing a home

It is believed that Vitaly Sidorenko’s prayer for the blessing of a house carries special power. It was left in prayerful memory to Mother N, who was his spiritual child for 30 years. The prayer was read during disasters, and its miraculous power is confirmed by the fact that during the bombing neither mother’s house nor the people in it were harmed, although everything around was destroyed.

May Almighty Merciful God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit bless us and protect us. ABOUT! Sweetest Jesus Christ, Almighty King of Heaven and earth, Son of David, Jesus of Nazareth, crucified on the Cross for our sake, have mercy on this house, protect those who live in it.

May Your blessing from the Lord accompany them everywhere; may the Holy Spirit sanctify their thoughts and hearts: His omnipotence is everywhere, in every place: everything that is in this house, who enters them and who leaves them, may the Most Holy Trinity bless and protect from all evil, so that nothing unclean comes close to them. Let the name of the Lord Jesus Christ with the nine orders of Angels be in this house and give it its peace. May the Most Holy Virgin Mary cover you with her maternal veil; May the Holy Apostles protect his well-being and may the Holy Evangelists establish and strengthen him. Let the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ be his roof; let the nails of our Lord Jesus Christ be his protection; let the crown of our Lord Jesus Christ be his covering.
