How old is the husband of Dorothea Wierer. “The decisions of Kuzmina and Mäkäräinen did not surprise me”

The leader of the Italian women's team, bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in Sochi, Dorothea Wierer, at the Forni-Avoltri tournament, announced her continuation of her career after the Games in Korea, talked about her longest vacation and appreciated the possible inclusion of Tyumen in the World Cup calendar next season.

“I don’t remember the last time I was at the Kartia Arena,” Wierer thought. - They expanded everything here and the asphalt, I see, they put a new one. Yes, it may not be as easy to get here as to Anterselva, but the places are wonderful.

- This is not the first time you have taken part in this summer biathlon event. Tell us a little about the Frassinoro Summer Biathlon Festival.

- This small summer biathlon festival has been going on for several years, although before it was held in a different place. The organizers themselves are from Casalgrande, which is not far from Modena, and in previous years we performed there, but then the composition of the participants was almost entirely Italian. Now the Swiss national team, athletes from Slovenia and Slovakia, as well as Kaisa Mäkäräinen have arrived in Forni-Avoltri - a good line-up for the former local competitions. In addition, it is interesting that the current competition format has brought the World Cup athletes and juniors into one starting group.

- Is it interesting to watch young people at contact competitions?

- Yes, it's an interesting experience. Our juniors are improving every year and are already showing quite good results. However, they still have to grow up to the World Cup. I think that in a couple of years you will see new names in the Italian national team, but for now we are watching the guys at the IBU Cup. I know almost all young biathletes and I will be glad to see them one day as part of our team.

- In what capacity do you plan to oversee the renewal of the national team?

- As a teammate.

- I remember ours, and it seems that you have changed your sports plans. This is true?

- Yes, I decided that I would continue my career until 2020. I think that the home world championship in Anterselva will be the best moment to say goodbye to professional sports. It all started there for me, and some of my favorite sports memories are associated with this place.

- Glad to hear such news. How did you come to this decision?

- I think that I just wanted to play in Anterselva, which hosts not just the World Cup, but the World Championship. I'm sure you know perfectly well how I love to play at home stages, when literally all my friends and my family come to Anterselva in the most expanded composition, when I give dozens of interviews and experience the pleasant stress associated with interest in our sport. I understand that young guys are looking at me, and thus I can contribute to the development of biathlon in our country.

- Yes, in Anterselva you will simply not be allowed to go to the sports rest!

- I can imagine! But for me, perhaps, it will be enough to "run" until the age of 30. The Italian fans will understand me.

- Family plans interfere?

- Not that it was about something specific, like children or moving: no, on the contrary, my life has now acquired very pleasant outlines of harmony and confidence for me, which I want to enjoy a little more.

- Yes you are right. Balance is important to me, and now both of these sides of my life are almost equally important to me. Last season turned out to be extremely difficult: I was often stressed, I did not always sleep well, in general there was a lot of pressure around. Therefore, the first thing after the end of the "biathlon winter" I arranged for myself a long vacation. This was my longest vacation in years! I was able to truly relax and release all the accumulated stress. I must admit that my husband was also very pleased to see the giggle Doro again, which I had not been all last winter.

- And where did you spend your longest vacation?

- First we flew to Mauritius - it was fabulous! And then we had some fun in Dubai. By the way, after the competition in Forni-Avoltri, which coincided with the end of the training camp, I will go to Croatia to rest. And in September I am going to go to Slovenia for a few days, but I have no clear plans for this trip yet.

- You are not wasting your time!

- In no case! It's summer, you have to enjoy life. After a good job, you always need to also have a rich rest, otherwise you will not find any motivation to spend the summer hours in the gym.

“I saw your husband at Forni Avoltri. Have you been together all summer?

- We spend our holidays together, but I go to the training camp alone. Moreover, in the summer he also has a busy schedule together with the national cross-country skiing team from the Trentino region, which he coaches. At Forni Avoltri he has training with juniors while I'm at the biathlon festival. A schedule like this works for us: we know each other very well, and the time we don't spend together only increases the joy of meeting. I am really very happy.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BS-7O3CFYsO

- Let's go back to training. Anything planned after your vacation in Croatia?

- Good joke! Yes, I will continue training as usual. In the summer, you need to do physical training hard so that you have strength for the entire season. As for the pre-season preparation, in October we have a serious training camp in Ramsau, and in November we will hold two training camps in Norway. But now it is only July, and it is too early for us to think about the first snow.

- But you probably already looked at the preliminary calendar of the season?

- Yes. He, in principle, is practically the same as always. Only in December is the stage in Annecy scheduled, like three years ago. And then the important two weeks at the Olympics. I hope everything will be better at the Olympics itself than at the pre-Olympic stage last year.

- Familiar words: I heard the responses of athletes about the pre-Olympic week. What were you dissatisfied with?

- Oh, everything was somehow strange. From the very beginning it was clear that they had no winter sports culture at all, so everything was so unnatural. Not that the organization was bad, but rather on the part of people who are simply “out of the box”. I really hope that they will somehow better prepare for the Olympics.

- And you say that in Italy people are not very familiar with biathlon.

- Yes, there is such a thing, but South Korea is definitely not comparable. But in Russia with winter sports everything is more than in order. I am very glad that the last stage is planned in Tyumen. Hope nothing changes here. Last season, these gossips were already enough, it is time to return to sports affairs and not to interfere with politics.

- You've been to Tyumen, haven't you?

- Yes, twice at the Race of Champions. I have great memories of the city and the local fans, so I will happily go there again.

- It's nice to see you again full of strength and motivation. Are you going to lose your spirits before the season starts?

- In no case! I have already done a very good training job, which I am completely satisfied with, but the preparatory season is long, and more training lies ahead. Yes, there is still a lot of time until December, but now I am completely relaxed and fully enjoy my workouts. I expect that the situation will change somewhat closer to October, when another stage of preparation begins with more serious and focused work. I think that by that time, the pressure before the start of an important season will remind of itself. Nevertheless, I will try to be as ready for this as possible.

- No, usually at this time, on the contrary, nothing needs to be changed. I myself began to monitor my fitness more closely, to listen more to my body so as not to overload it. The same applies to shooting training: we work more on quality than quantity. In any case, it will be possible to understand your objective level only at competitions.

- In this regard, summer races should contribute to training work.

- Of course, such a small competition cannot be attributed to the "milestone" of the offseason, but they will definitely allow coaches to see a bigger picture. Although, I will note that we arrived in Forni-Avoltri after three weeks of intensive training, where we left a lot of energy. Usually I would take a “shooting break” for the weekend, but I think a light competitive warm-up with the Swiss athletes, with Kaisa and our talented youth is useful for everyone.

- Do you also participate in events dedicated to the new image of the Karnia Arena stadium?

- No, I came to Forni-Avoltri exclusively as an athlete. This offseason, apart from training and two trips, I no longer participated in any other activities like sponsorship meetings or marketing events. Now I will be more careful about the choice of attending such meetings. However, soon there will be a number of official events of the Italian Ski Federation, photography and so on, where I will certainly have to attend. In any case, compared to previous years, I try to choose only really important meetings for myself, and devote the rest of the time to myself and my husband.

- I think that for the development of biathlon in Italy, it is still advisable for you to attend sponsored events.

- At the end of the season, I devoted enough time to this moment, and the next meetings are scheduled in October-November. It is a pleasure to work with my sponsors, because they understand what the life of a professional athlete is, and all our meetings are planned as correctly as possible in relation to both parties.

- Your expectations from the new Olympic season.

- I will say this: I hope that I will be able to show better results than in the last season. The past winter was not bad for me, but nevertheless, I am generally unhappy with my last season. I really slept badly, was often nervous, and all this directly affected both the results and the motivation. I feel much more relaxed and confident now. I talked a lot with my coaches, and I think that we managed to build such preparation for the season that will allow me to focus on the most important things and avoid stressful situations, pressure and all these accompanying factors that will definitely arise during the Olympic season.

- Do you communicate with your teammates? I think the exchange of experiences among athletes is also an important point in order to isolate themselves from stress.

- At the training camp - of course! In general, in the summer, I don't really communicate with any of the other athletes. But I follow everyone on Instagram with whom we have contact during the season. Not so that we exchange SMS, but I'm always interested in seeing cool pictures of guys and girls, and I also love to share my photos. So in the offseason, no one forgets about each other.

Forney-Avoltri

Italian biathlete Dorothea Wierer is the favorite in most competitions. And the point here, of course, is not only in sports professionalism, but also in the external attractiveness and benevolent sociability of the girl. Oddly enough, but the career and biography of Dorothea Wierer in our country is watched even more closely and attentively than in her homeland in Italy. The athlete herself laments this, saying that her favorite sport in her homeland is football. If in our country the names and faces of skiers are familiar to very many, then at home, Dorothea Wierer does not feel special interest and excitement around her person. Perhaps this situation will change over time. Already literally last year, the Italian press turned to the girl, finally, more attentive eyes after a successful performance at the Sochi Olympics. Dorothea Wierer's personal life interesting to many of our compatriots - sports fans. A beautiful Italian woman attracts the enthusiastic gaze of men and receives many compliments and offers in her address, as evidenced by the athlete's pages on social networks.

In everyday life, Dorothea Wierer is just as welcoming and outgoing as in her post-competition interviews. The girl openly answers journalists' questions. The athlete is originally from Brunico, Italy. The sports biography of Dorothea Wierer is developing quite quickly and smoothly. On her account, there have already been many ascents to the victory pedestal, and there have not been any particularly bitter and offensive defeats yet. Nevertheless, Dorothea Wierer honestly admits that she does not plan to engage in professional sports until the age of 30, so she will probably end her career soon and take up coaching, which she is now actively studying.

Dorothea Wierer's sociability finds a way out in communication with numerous friends, acquaintances, colleagues and fans, as well as in parties and parties. The athlete prefers to rest passively, lying on the beach. The biathlete honestly admits that she does not like to read, preferring listening to a variety of music, dancing and watching films.

In the photo - Dorothea Wierer and her husband Stefano Corradini

More recently, in May of this year, the famous Italian skier changed her marital status and became a married woman. The chosen one of Dorothea Wierer is the coach of children's ski teams Stefano Corradini, with whom the girl had a long relationship. Now she bears the name of her husband, although she will continue to compete under her maiden name. The wedding ceremony took place in Kvalese and was as fun and memorable as the bride wanted. The couple, of course, are thinking about children, but they are not thinking far ahead in this matter. Although Dorothea Wierer admits that she likes family relationships, like her parents. The family lives in Castello di Fiemme.

Has been involved in biathlon since 2000. He is a representative of the sports club of the Italian border service "Gruppi Sportivi Fiamme Gialle"(literally: "yellow buttonholes"). The first serious success came to the Italian in 2006, when she won the sprint silver in the country's youth championship.

The following year, Wierer's debut junior world championship took place, which took place in her homeland, in Italy (in the town of Val Martello). However, he did not bring much success to Dorothea - the best result was only tenth in the individual race, but the Italian held it quite smoothly.

In the 2014/2015 season, the Italian biathlete won 5 awards - three personal - bronze in the pursuit (Östersund), silver in the sprint (Pokljuka), silver in the sprint (Oberhof); two team - silver (Oslo-Holmenkollen) and bronze (World Cup, Kontiolahti) in relay races. Participated in almost all races of the season (except for the first individual race and the Czech stage). At the summer biathlon championship, he confidently wins the sprint and individual race.

In the 2015/2016 season, Dorothea won the first gold medals at the Biathlon World Cup in Ostersund and Ruhpolding (individual races), and after the Swedish race, for the first time in her career, she went to the next start in the leader's yellow jersey; in Kenmore (mass start), she also has silver medals in the pursuit race (Ostersund, Holmenkollen), and in Norway, Dorothea won the first personal medal of the world championship in her career, sprint (Antholz-Anterselva); bronze medals of Ruhpolding (pursuit), Antholz (pursuit), Kenmore (sprint), Khanty-Mansiysk (pursuit), the Italian also celebrated success in the relay (Hochfilzen), won silver in the Canmore mixed relay and climbed to the 3rd step pedestal all in the same relay (Ruhpolding). Having shown the eighth result at the World Championships in Holmenkollen in the classic fifteen-kilometer race and having won two previous races, Dorothea became the owner of the Small Crystal Globe in the individual races program. Dorothea did not miss a single personal race, she was always in the top 20 of the strongest (the only exception is the first mass start of Ruhpolding, in which Wierer took 25th place), showed good speed on the track. Dorothea also took part in the Italian biathlon championship, where she confidently won the sprint (0 + 2, time 22: 22.8, advantage over Nicole Gontier 40.7 seconds) and the pursuit race (0 + 0 + 2 + 1, superiority from most pursuer 1:55 minutes).

At the end of the 2016/2017 season, Dorothea wins 2 bronze medals in the sprint + graze combination.

In the 2017/2018 season, Wierer ranks second in the Italian Winter Championship and wins the mass start and sprint at the summer championship of his native country. At the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, Dorothea won bronze in the mixed relay.

The 2018-2019 season turned out to be the most successful for the Italian sportswoman: during the whole season, Wierer showed stable results, almost every time she was in the prizes. As a result, at the end of the season, she conquers the Big Crystal Globe. She was also recognized as the South Tyrol Athlete of the Year, attended the awards, like many other Italian athletes. At the end of the season, in many interviews, she said that, most likely, she would remain in biathlon for another year or two. I was pleased with the decision that the 2026 Olympics will be held in Italy, but added that it will not be there, but “there will be an opportunity to show oneself to young Italian sportsmen”.

Two-time Olympic medalist, Italian biathlete Dorothea Wierer, assured that she continues to maintain a balance in training and personal life, and also spoke about the career of her 17-year-old sister.

- Everything is the same with me: every year there is serious preparation in the off-season and a little time for yourself - after all, it's summer in the yard. I came to the Italian championship in good condition, but it's too early to talk about good shape. Yes, this did not stop me from winning the mass start, but mistakes still happen.

- Are you talking about errors during the races, or is something still not working out in training?

- I speak in general. But the presence of shortcomings in the current work does not bother me, because this is the preparation time, and I clearly know what I need to do so that I will be fully armed by winter.

- What changes have occurred in your team after the end of the Olympic cycle?

- We have had a small update of the coaching staff. Now we are training in a team of four. Working in a small group, in my opinion, contributes to a more detailed approach to technical elements.

- Your sister also took part in the Italian championship. How is Magdalena Wierer doing?

- My sister won the sprint race with a good time. But it is too early to talk about any good results, because she is still very young. Magdalena is only 17 years old, and she has everything ahead.

- Were you surprised that you decided to pursue a career?

- Surprised? It is quite obvious to me that these girls live in biathlon, so I was not at all surprised that they decided to postpone the end of their careers. We are all so different: they have their own lives, but for myself I choose a different scenario.

- How do you manage to combine training work and personal life so successfully?

- I think it's just given to me. Plus, I do everything according to my priorities. For example, I have to withdraw from commercial events more often than before because it is very important to follow a training schedule and stay focused. But when I attend some of the organized meetings, I enjoy the chat with the fans and the simple non-sporting conversations. It is very important for me to live life to the fullest, not just sports.

- What interesting events did you manage to attend this summer?

- After the end of the season, I had several official meetings in my calendar, which I attended as part of the Italian Ski Federation. One of these events took place in Rome. The visit was of a purely business nature: the end of the Olympic season, meetings with officials, but in the evening we walked around the city. It was very beautiful: I enjoyed the beautiful Roman architecture, historical monuments and walks along the streets of the city.

- Didn't you fly anymore?

- Not this year. But this summer, I also did not do without extreme: I took part in tests of sports cars. Two years ago I was invited for the first time, and this summer I again did not refuse to receive unforgettable emotions and my dose of adrenaline. True, I was very seasick while driving: we really drove around the track! It was an amazing experience. Sometimes I like to break away from the routine and spend time in a different way.

- What are your plans for the remaining time before the start of the season?

- Mostly training. Agree, we still have more than two months before the beginning of winter: I enjoy training, but I do not forget about rest.

Is your work-life balance helping you stay motivated?

- I think yes. My motivation does not decrease: I would like to continue to show good results and get on the podium.

- What are your goals for the new season?

- The main emphasis in preparation will be on the World Championship in Ostersund, I hope to win a medal in Sweden. But first, I will try to convincingly open the season so that by the middle of winter I feel confident and observe positive dynamics in the results.

- Italian journalists talked a lot about your future confrontation with. Do you feel the struggle for leadership in the team?

- Yes, come on! Everything is the same with us: the same girls in the team, the same atmosphere. Over the past few years, Lisa has pulled herself up to me - and that's great! Previously, I was always the only one who fought for medals in the team, and now there are two of us in a dispute for awards. Of course, the increase in the level of competition within the team only plays into my hands, especially when in the offseason we have almost no international starts. Previously, I had to focus only on my own indicators of past years, but now I can partially compare my results with the dynamics of my teammate. In the men's team, where the leadership is divided among themselves, now the situation is about the same. I think all this will contribute to the success of the entire Italian team in the coming season.
