Greetings, dear ones. In the spring, my friends and I ordered these knives for themselves, quite a good product for their own money. This blade does not belong to me, I asked a friend, in order to show you. Therefore, I invite all men to read my review. Pumped-up girls in leggings or radio-controlled models attract more attention, but the fascination with knives is quite natural for a real man.
Friends, many of you do not understand why a considerable number of men are very fond of knives. It's simple, a knife from time immemorial has been a household helper of a person, it has also been a weapon. Before the revolution, many strata of the population carried edged weapons with them. The peasants also did not go without a knife, in everyday life there is nothing to do without it. Passion for knives and craving for them is the root, deepest quality of the soul, brought up for many centuries.
To begin with, I would like to say a few words about what kind of animal this is, Strider knives. They are produced, surprisingly, by Mick Strider in collaboration with Duane Dwyer. Another American soldier who, after serving and sniffing gunpowder, decided to produce cool knives for cool men. I want to note that in the states, knives are often made by former military men, as an example - the same Medford. As for Mick Strider, everything is very vague here, according to some sources he was a specialist and fought, according to others he served in ordinary troops. There is also evidence that some US special forces are supplied with Strider knives. I have doubts about this, to be honest.
If you do not tighten, then you can say so, Mick makes very strong knives (both folding and awkward), with a very uncomfortable, in my opinion, handle. I want to clarify, my conclusions and conclusions relate to folding. They are not very suitable for everyday life, but they have some kind of harsh charm, so that many people are fans of the work of Strider and Dwyer, and pay a lot of money for their knives. In addition to this, they are presented as something indestructible, combat, very noble, elite product for specialists, in general, American men are catching up with horror. But whatever one may say, there really is some truth in all this and looking at these handsome men, I want to get myself one of them.
Do you think the Chinese could easily pass by all this? They could not and did not pass. When the first fakes appeared, some of the Strider fans were violently indignant, they say they encroached on the sacred, who could not afford real knives from Mick - he was delighted, the first fakes were good quality, of course, did not reach the real Striders, but were on the level. Then cheaper Chinese Striders began to appear and then the product was born, which I will show you today.
At first, no one paid much attention to this knife, then the first curious ones ordered it and were surprised by its solid performance. It was also subsequently tested and thanks to this video it was in demand for some time.
Now Striders are no longer on hearing, many other knives are made in the USA, Russia and China, which attract people, but a few years ago everything was different.

I, too, was no exception and bought Chistrader at one time, it was a knife from Y-START, with a titanium frame. It was then that I felt all the absurdity of the handle of this knife. It was successfully sold.

Here it is, there are even pictures left.

Some time later, the monitored Chistrayder was on sale at a discount, I suggested to my friends, they expressed a desire to purchase this product, I joined them. Very nicely made knives arrived, which were pleasing to the eye, they cut well, but in the end I sold mine because of the handle that was inconvenient for me. A real Indian does not make the same mistake twice, I am not real, I am ashamed of that. Well, now for an overview.

Knife appearance

By the way, pay attention to the processing of G10 in the form of honeycombs - this is the so-called Gungrip.

TTX knife
Overall length - 20.4cm
Blade length - 9cm
Blade thickness - 0.4cm
Knife weight - 153g
Steel - 5Cr13Mov
Handle - steel, G10

More clearly

The lock of this knife is unsuccessful, it goes almost to the end of the heel, on others things are better, the frame becomes at the beginning of the heel and only goes deeper under load.

The knife is very knocked down and strong, a full-fledged crowbar. Assembled with four screws and axial. The cover plate with the frame is steel, its thickness is 3 mm.

Partial parsing

I could not disassemble the knife, because I myself poured half a liter of the fixative into it. The boiling water did not help.

Washers made of brass, axial very powerful.

Lock cut.

More and more clearly, if you are looking closely at the knife - check it out.

It is uncomfortable to hold the knife with a hammer grip, the thumb and forefinger seem to be hanging in the air. This is understandable, in this place there is a very strong narrowing of the handle.

If you hold the knife with a pistol grip, then it is more convenient, but the sharp corner of the pommel digs into the palm.

And the most comfortable grip is when the thumb rests on the butt, and the index finger is placed in the recess on the blade.

The knife is at work.
You can swear at me, but there is no desire to test the knife on food. It is perfect for cutting chicken, slicing sausages and peeling potatoes. But that's not why Mick Strider created it. I don't like it when men do kitchen work at all. Therefore, we will cut the nut branch, this is a more worthy test for a knife.

The blade bites into the wood quite well, I cut a 3cm thick branch in 2min 50sec.

The handle very harshly rubbed my hand, a notch as evil as a wolf. The sharp corner of the top of the handle also made itself felt. But in addition to this, the frame selection also distinguished itself, the sharp corner of which is very good for the little finger.

The next thing I cut with this knife was some kind of thick reinforced hose. Very dense and viscous.

When cutting this hose, it is initially very difficult to cut with a pull, the knife literally sticks to the rubber, you have to push until the upper wall is cut through and then you can cut it with a pull. Due to the thick information and the structure of the blade, this work is not very easy. I made three cuts. Pushing a knife through rubber is hard, but cutting is much easier.

This time, the grip is heavily shaping the palm, at the base of the index finger.

By the way, with a knife you can well cut thin branches with such a grip.

What can I say, the steel got hooked after the nut. The knife cuts wood is not bad, despite the brokenness. The shape of the blade is good, and the fact that the handle crumples very strongly is the highly tactful idea of \u200b\u200bMick Strider, the Chinese have nothing to do with it. Although this blade is not for my hand, I like it, a good, solid piece.
Compared to other knives

To summarize, as you can see, this is a crowbar, strong enough, but not for heavy work, since a very angular handle crumples a hand, for which something simple is quite suitable. The workmanship is good for this price, the only thing that failed was the lock. The Chinese did their best. This knife is not a full-size counterfeit for the Strider, it is smaller than Mick's large knives and larger than the smallest Strider folding. I showed you the knife, and the conclusion, as usual, is yours. Of course, it turned out extensively, but it will be useful for those who are keen and watching.

Some pictures of the surroundings.

A combat knife is the earliest element of human defense or attack, the very first weapon that man made and began to use. After many years, the improvement of many types of weapons, the possibilities of their use, the combat knife did not get lost among the many types of weapons and became a truly loyal companion of strong men.

Over the past decade, their appearance practically unchanged. Of course, considering development modern technologies the principles of approaches to the manufacture of knives have changed, and better materials have been used. In the manufacture of modern knives, methods of ergonomics and convenience for the owner are increasingly used.

Combat edged weapons in shape and in general are somewhat similar to a predatory shark, which appeared one of the first among predators, and managed to survive in modern aquatic environment is one of the most dangerous predators.

According to some experts, it is believed that the value of a combat knife in modern combat is minimal.

When performing special tasks, the combat knife is almost irreplaceable.

Combat knife used by the troops special purpose - this is, one might say, piece goods. During its manufacture, all parameters were taken into account:

  • blade length;
  • handle shape;
  • sharpening;
  • balance.

It makes no sense to hand these types of combat knives into the hands of young conscripts and soldiers who are serving a year in the armed forces. It can be used by specially trained people serving in special military units.

Features of combat knives

The purpose of a combat knife in the armed forces is to disable the enemy's manpower as much as possible. In accordance with the regulations and norms, he is in service with army structures and other special forces.

Understanding the specifics of a combat knife as a weapon for the destruction of a person, many countries have adopted special regulations that legislate the status of a combat knife as a cold weapon, the difference from another type of knives and the procedure for storing it.

Combat knives may differ from each other in appearance.

And also in constructive form, however, there are some constants that must be laid down without fail to ensure the performance of functional tasks.

Professionals engaged in the manufacture of a combat knife are trying to make edged weapons that would meet the following requirements:

  • the handle of a combat knife must have an ovoid or oval section, it shouldn't be round. The reasons for this design are very simple: firstly, the handle of this shape is more comfortable in the hand, and secondly, the fighter can feel the position of the blade at the time of its use;
  • the handle of the combat knife should not slip in the hand... Today, for linings, various types of plastic are most often used, which perfectly meet this requirement;
  • double-sided or one-and-a-half knife sharpening is desirable... Using the blade in combat is much more effective if the fighter can use both sides of the blade and not turn it over;
  • the width of the knife blade is important, it should be at least 2.5-3 cm... In this case, the width of the slopes of the blade allows you to reduce the angle of sharpening of the blade, which increases its cutting properties. With a stabbing blow with a similar knife, extensive wounds with profuse blood loss remain;
  • the shape of the knife blade is very important for melee weapons... The best option is leaf-shaped, with differentiated sharpening. This allows for effective cutting and stabbing blows. The combination of differential and reverse sharpening is especially effective. The combat knife can be equipped with a serrated sharpening. However, you should not confuse the chamfer on the butt of the knife with its sharpening;

  • a combat knife must have a limiter on the handle... This is necessary so that the hand does not slip onto the blade during the stabbing blow. The handle with the limiter should be comfortable for the fighter, the limiter (it is often mistakenly called the guard) should not be too large and interfere with the interception of the weapon;
  • the weapon has a length of 18 to 30 cm... Size is very important, if the blade of the knife is shorter than the specified length, then in battle it will be more difficult for them to reach the enemy, whose weapon may be longer. The length of more than thirty centimeters makes the knife too heavy and uncomfortable to carry and use. In addition, a knife that is too long is difficult to get quickly and securely hide under clothes. The indicated length is quite sufficient for the defeat of the vital important organs abdomen and chest at all angles of impact. A knife that is too long is easier to knock out of the opponent's hand;
  • blade hardness. This is one of the most important characteristics of a knife. The blade must be made of high quality steel with a hardness not less than 47-55 HRC. The hardness of the blade ensures its good penetrating action, it must be able to pierce clothing and, if necessary, push the fibers of the Kevlar body armor apart.

Here's how to measure Rockwell hardness

The penetrating action of combat edged weapons depends not only on the hardness of the steel from which it is made, but also on the shape of the knife blade. In the 90s of the last century, experiments began to create blades from titanium and titanium alloys. In terms of strength, these materials are superior to steel, have less weight, and are not subject to corrosion.

In addition, they have anti-magnetic properties, which is very important for divers working with underwater mines. Such materials have an unpleasant feature: sharpening very quickly loses its sharpness.

For good penetrating power in stabbing, the point should coincide as much as possible with the axis of symmetry of the blade. That is, the edge of the knife should not be displaced to the side; maximum force should be focused on it when hitting. In hunting knives, the point is usually shifted slightly upward, which is due to the specifics of their use.

grams - combat knife weight

The weight of a combat knife should be 200-300 grams. It is difficult to inflict a serious and deep wound with a lighter weapon, but if the knife is too heavy it will make it difficult to use it.

The center of gravity of a combat knife should be closer to the handle, and not to the edge of the blade, in this case it is much easier to use it.

There are also requirements for a combat knife scabbard. The scabbard should be strong, lightweight, comfortable and firmly attached. The color of the scabbard is tactical (black or just dark). There should be no clasps to hold the knife in the sheath, they can prevent the weapon from being removed at the right time.

The knife should be kept in the scabbard only due to frictional force, should not slip out or fall out in any position of the body. The weapon should be easy to reach even with one hand without the slightest noise. The scabbard and its attachment must not interfere with the movements of the fighter and violate his disguise.

Blade design

Russian army knives

Continuing the theme of using a combat knife in modern combat, two vectors can be distinguished.

  1. Survival use.
  2. Simplicity in everything.

Firms supplying combat knives to the cold steel market focus more on the so-called cutting component than on the piercing one. Therefore, the knife becomes smaller due to the reduction in length, but the blade becomes wider.

Let us give an example of a number of combat army knives used in the power structures of the Russian Federation.

"Lynx"

Produced in the Chelyabinsk region, namely in the city of Zlatoust for SOBR.

The blade assumes the shape of a dagger, sharpening is a lorry. The shape of the handle is spindle-shaped, with a small guard and a metal pommel. The knife can be manufactured in 3 types: combat, for rewarding, for civil purposes.

DV-1 and DV-2

Used by army units of the special forces of the Far East federal district... The knives DV-1 and DV-2 are identical, except for the length of the blade. The blade itself resembles a blade in shape and a sharpening on the butt, the guard and pommel are made of high quality steel.

The knife handle resembles an oval in cross section and is made of wood (walnut). These combat knives have a groove in front of the guard, which makes it possible to very quickly get a stuck knife. The basis for the manufacture of the scabbard is genuine leather.

"Anti-terror"

Cold steel, combat knife, specially made for the structures of the FSB of Russia. Due to the fact that the blade is given a leaf-like shape, this allows the knife to have excellent secant qualities. The cutting side has a sickle-shaped groove that allows you to add length increments while maintaining the size of the blade.

Types of combat knives of the GRU special forces

Designed for the special forces of the GRU General Staff of the Ministry of Defense at TsNIITOCHMASH. By order of the GRU, a combat knife "Elf" was made, the main purpose of which is to help a special forces officer survive at any cost. Compared to other knives "Elf" is equipped with a rather narrow blade with a slight lowering of the butt line, with one blade formed by long descents and a false blade on the front of the butt.

"Elf" is equipped with double-sided sharpening.

Sharpening in this form greatly increases combat characteristics a knife with a narrow blade, respectively, piercing blows are better applied.

Due to the adjoining to the false edge of the sharpening, the qualitative use of the knife increases. After striking an enemy, a wound with profuse hemorrhage may appear. The knife is made in such a way that the blade can be pulled out of the body without much effort.

Due to the use of the knife in extreme situations, high quality steel is used in the manufacture of the knife blade. Aluminum alloy is used in the manufacture of the knife handle. The shape of the handle is round and has a sealed cavity. The delivery set includes a knife with a genuine leather sheath.

Bayonet knives

It can be said that the bayonet as an addition to the gun began to be used in the 16th century in some areas of modern Spain. At that time, they were not used as a bayonet-knife in the modern sense, but they resembled a dagger and were used to finish off a wounded animal.

century in Spain in the first addition to the gun began to use a bayonet

Bayonet knives that were used soviet troops, originates during the First World War with German troops, the greatest peak of use dates back to the fifties of the twentieth century, complete with AK automatic rifles.

Let's give an example of the most common ones.

After the adoption of weapons by the USSR army at the end of the 40s of the XX century, the AK-47, in the early 50s, a blade bayonet was manufactured under the serial number 56-X-212 for use with an assault rifle.

Characteristics of the 56-X-212 bayonet:

The so-called experimental bayonet-knife for the AK-74 assault rifle was made in the mid-80s of the 20th century. It was produced in small quantities at the Izhevsk plant. The entire batch was transported for testing in combat conditions on Afghan territory. This instance included a blade with a symmetrical lance-shaped combat end and double-sided sharpening.

Characteristics of the experimental bayonet-knife for the AK-74 assault rifle:

Bayonet with scabbard 6X9-1 being integral part new equipment of Russian soldiers "Ratnik" was produced in JSC "KAMPO" - this is a military plant of the military-industrial complex of Russia, which is a constant supplier of edged weapons for the needs of the armed forces, special services, aerospace forces, firefighters.

Its main goal is the elimination of the enemy and military dogs when fighting in small premises and when it is impossible to use firearms, as well as when biting through barbed steel wires when passing into the enemy's protected perimeter.

Characteristics of a bayonet knife 6X9-1:

Steel for the blade

The basis for the manufacture of a combat knife is high-carbon steel, sometimes knives are made using forging.

Foreign combat knives are marked as follows: "high carbon steel", that is, if the proportion decreases in steel, the softer and more elastic the steel becomes. Thus, the quantitative content of carbon in the structure of steel is very important, and even more so steel with a higher carbon content retains sharpening better and longer.

In the case of a carbon concentration of more than 2% in the knife, the steel will simply not be malleable. Through experiments and tests, the most optimal carbon content was revealed - about 1.25%.

To preserve steel from corrosive elements and increase resistance to various influences (natural, mechanical, etc.), pure steel, which is used to make knives, is diluted with other metals. Nickel is added to protect against corrosion, to maintain properties in chemical environment - vanadium, to increase durability - chromium.

Of great importance in steel is such an indicator as hardness, measured on the Rockwell hardness scale in HRC units.

Steel for a combat knife must have a hardness of 58-62 HRC.

Another indicator for the characteristics of steel is elasticity. This criterion shows how you can load a knife blade without destroying or breaking the knife itself. The steel used in the manufacture of combat knives is such that the blade can bend 25% and remain undeformed.

Sharpening rules

Regarding the issue of sharpening the blade of knives, the owner, when purchasing it, must understand in advance the intensity of its use. The operation itself for sharpening a knife is different.

  • wedge-shaped sharpening... It is assumed that from the base and further up the blade becomes thicker. The blade cuts better than the thinner the blade, but one must understand that the smaller the thickness, the less durable a combat knife. The greatest cutting effect is achieved when sharpening occurs at an acute angle;
  • razor sharpening. After sharpening, the knife blade becomes narrower and sharper. The disadvantage of this type of sharpening is the reduced strength of the blade when compared with wedge-shaped sharpening. Therefore, after such sharpening, they are mainly intended for cutting. With other uses, the blade will become unusable.

The best combat knives in the world

Strider SMF (USA)

At the beginning of the 21st century, the US Department of Defense decided to train a counterterrorism unit based on marines... This knife was also included in the equipment of the unit's fighters.

Strider SMF - small, handy, body is made of titanium. The characteristics of the knife correspond to the best analogues of edged weapons. Such a knife is not afraid of any damage, a real special forces knife.

Ari B'Lilah (Israel)

This is a combat knife of one of the best special army units in Israel, soldiers who are constantly participating in hostilities, fighting terrorists.

The Israelis are constantly improving their weapons, Ari B'Lilah is simply a masterpiece.

Glauca В1 (France)

This is a dagger of one of the most closed special forces of the French gendarmerie. In this case, with regards to the knife, we can say that simplicity is the key to success.

Blade - 115 mm, can be worn on a belt or in a pocket, the equipment includes a "stelobot".

Combat Japanese knives

Japanese knife "tanto"

The literal translation is "shortened sword". In earlier periods, it was a samurai weapon. The blade can be sharpened on one side, but it can also be double-edged. Reaches a length of 30 cm.

Tanto differs from many types of edged weapons, in particular, when making a blade, spongy iron is used, the handle is removed. The main features of tanto include the use of sponge iron, a removable handle and a round guard. It is flat, the main goal is to finish off the enemy.

There are varieties of the Japanese tanto knife:

The shape of the Aykutti combat knives differs from the traditional tanto in that they do not have a guard. In hand-to-hand combat, they are irreplaceable and most often used when there was a need to finish off the enemy.

The oldest type of tanto knives. The blade is sharpened on both sides. Currently, these knives are practically not used due to their age - they are a work of art.

The characteristics of the knives assumed the defeat of the enemy by penetrating the armor, this was achieved by the fact that the blade of the yari-tanto is identical to the blade of the yari spear. Due to the fact that the handle of the knife is hollow from the inside, it was possible to plant the handle on the shaft and use it in battle as a spear. Often this knife was used as a "second hand" weapon.

A weapon used only in war. Its purpose is to intercept knives or a blade. For this, the existing hook was used.

Hasiwari's beautiful combat knives

If the warrior has a good command of this knife, it is possible to inflict fatal blows by piercing the armor, especially since the blade 40 cm long is sufficient to defeat the enemy.

The world famous Strider folding knives are produced by an American company, whose products are famous for their heavy-duty characteristics and a unique cutting blade. Strider specializes in the production of high quality blades tailored to the needs modern man... Leading designers and engineers of the brand, developing branded models, are guided by the needs of the market, constantly striving to improve the functionality and increase the degree of practicality of knives during operation.

Specifications

Strider knives are distinguished by their original blade shape, unlike the shape of competitors' blades. For the manufacture of the blade, powder steel CPMS30V is mainly used, which contains a large number of chromium and vanadium. This combination allows for the creation of super strong blades. All models of folding knives of this brand are equipped with a durable and reliable titanium clip for attaching to clothing and comfortable wearing.

Among the technical features of the products, experts distinguish:

High quality steel;

Ergonomic handles;

Optimal protective coating;

Titanium frame;

Unique linear locking system.

The weight of the folding products is about 200 grams, the disassembled length is 20 centimeters, and the blade thickness is more than 3 millimeters. The large weight is due to the use of hard types of steel not only in the manufacture of the blade itself, but also in the manufacture of the opening mechanism and additional functional elements.

The pocket accessory folds out quickly and folds just as conveniently. This can be done with one hand. Branded products do not require complex maintenance and can be sharpened on classic stone sharpeners. The company produces a wide range of products, which mainly differ in appearance and functionality.

Where to find branded folding pocket knives

You can buy Strider folding knives at a bargain price on our online portal. The modern catalog provides a convenient search, provides comprehensive information about the models and presents current photographs. You can buy a folding pocket knife from a leading manufacturer as a gift. A real man will appreciate the quality, practicality, originality and functionality of a branded knife, made in accordance with the established international standards for cutting tools.

American knife company Strider Knives (California, USA) was founded in 1997 in San Marcos in 1997 by Mick Strider (the founder gave his name to the company). The very same history of the knife company began in 1994, when former US military personnel Mick Strider and Duane Dwyer decided to start producing high-quality knives. These two guys were in the past "green berets" and perfectly understood what characteristics a knife should have, what the importance of reliability and structural strength is. They began to manually manufacture custom models and were almost immediately noticed by representatives of the US army structures.

Initially, Mick and Dwayne made several models of knives for heavy field work, for survival in harsh conditions. The highest standards were laid in each product; the best blade steels, titanium, beryllium, stellite and other expensive materials were used to make knives. The creative tandem has released a batch of fixed sets and several models of folding knives. The sharp blades of knives from Strider Knives received a special oxide coating, the handles were made of shock-resistant materials. The blades are hardened using the patented technology of Paul Bose (Buck Knives).

Mick and Duane's work quickly became very popular for the unmatched quality of each piece these talented knifemakers make. They made part of their products (and are still producing today) for the US military structures, the other part is sold in free sale both in the USA and far beyond North America.

The assortment of the company includes a small line of stunning folders with pronounced aggressive blade lines and a recognizable pentagonal profile, expanding to the rear head of the handles, as well as a line of powerful fixtures that are ready to cope with any, the most difficult task. All Strider Knives models are manufactured according to their intended use. The acceptance of a model for release is preceded by the production of prototypes, which are rigorously tested.

Mick Strider speaks of his company's products only as full-function knives designed to "provide the evolution of remedies to the problem" - very ornate, but very capacious.

Today Strider Knives produces knives for the military, for special law enforcement units, sharp cutting tools for hunting and commercial diving. The company is also the official supplier of knives for some anti-terrorist units of the NATO forces. The company's knives are recognized all over the world as products of the highest class, fully meeting the requirements in the field of their application and as real rarities, rarities in the knife world. Every owner of a knife from Strider Knives can be proud to have such a specimen in their collection.
